IHG One Rewards has a new promotion giving members up to 15,000 bonus AAdvantage miles on 2+ night stays at IHG through November 15, 2024. Here's what you need to know about this promotion and how to claim your bonus miles.
Earn Up to 15,000 Bonus AAdvantage Miles on IHG Stays
From time to time, IHG One Rewards members can earn rewards other than IHG One Rewards points on stays. Earlier this year, members could earn up to 15,000 bonus United miles on IHG stays. This newest promotion offers up to 15,000 AAdvantage miles on IHG stays.
Through November 15, 2024, you can earn 1,000 bonus AAdvantage miles for each IHG stay of two or more nights. This offer has a limit of 15,000 bonus miles, which means a limit of 15 stays.
To earn these bonus miles, members must go to their IHG Preferences section, select “airline miles” in their Earning Preferences section, and then select American Airlines AAdvantage as the preferred airline program.
Bonus miles are in addition to base miles earned on IHG stays. When selecting American Airlines AAdvantage miles as the preferred reward, members earn 2 miles per dollar at all brands except for Candlewood Suites, Staybridge Suites, and The Venetian Resort Las Vegas. Members earn 1 mile per dollar at Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites.
However, members can't double-dip on IHG earnings. You either earn IHG points or airline miles.

Our Take
This is a promotion for IHG One Rewards members who prefer to earn AAdvantage miles with their stays. Valued conservatively at about 1.7 cents apiece, AAdvantage miles are roughly more than double the value of IHG One Rewards points. On average, AwardWallet users redeem IHG points for 0.68¢ apiece.
However, consider that IHG One Rewards members earn 10X points on stays and you can convert 10,000 IHG points to 2,000 AAdvantage miles. That means you can still effectively earn 2x miles on IHG stays. Plus, you can take advantage of IHG promotions that can offer considerably more points. For example, one targeted offer gives 8,000 bonus points every 2 nights. That would transfer to 1,600 AAdvantage miles vs. this promotion of 1,000 bonus miles per stay.
In other words, you should check the math before you book to ensure you're being rewarded in the most valuable way possible; that'll help you decide if this promotion is worth taking aadvantage of.
