Elevated credit card welcome offers are in vogue, which is a big deal if you're dreaming of booking some travel. One such offer out now comes courtesy of the Air France KLM Visa Signature® Credit Card, which awards new applicants 70,000 bonus miles and 100 XP bonus miles after meeting the minimum spending requirements. Better yet, the card has additional bells and whistles tied to the welcome offer, which can help you make the push toward Flying Blue elite status.

Here's an overview of the Air France KLM Visa‘s brand-new offer.

Air France KLM Visa Elevated Offer

The Air France KLM Visa is a product that doesn't get much attention. But with an attractive $89 annual fee plus a reasonable allotment of perks, this card should be on your radar.

We'll admit, the sign-up bonus on the card now is pretty captivating. As a new applicant, you can earn 70,000 bonus miles and 100 XP bonus miles and 40 XP (Experience Points) after you make $3,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days of your account opening.

To put this bonus into context, you'll net over $1,500 worth of miles and unlock Flying Blue Silver status (equivalent to SkyTeam Elite) after meeting the minimum spending requirements.

You can redeem your miles towards some incredible Flying Blue sweet spots by booking award tickets on Air France and KLM, SkyTeam partner airlines, and leveraging the program's monthly Promo Rewards. And your flying experience will be made that much better with your elite status, which grants you benefits such as an extra checked bag, preferred waitlist and standby status, and more.

Key benefits of the Air France KLM Visa

Outside of the sign-up bonus, the $89 Air France KLM Visa is a solid wallet addition. As a cardholder, you can enjoy the following perks:

  • Earn 3 miles per $1 spent directly on Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and SkyTeam member airlines purchases.
  • Earn 1.5 miles per $1 spent on all other purchases.
  • Receive 5,000 miles every year on your account anniversary after you spend $50 or more on purchases within the anniversary year.
  • Earn 20 XP every year on your account anniversary
  • No foreign transaction fees.
  • Mastercard World Elite benefits.

The card is missing notable perks, such as a free checked bag, that are common with most airline cards that carry a sub-$100 annual fee. However, as long as you retain your Flying Blue Silver status, you'll get to check a bag (or an extra bag if your fare class already offers one) for free, plus:

  • Earn 6 miles per Euro spent.
  • Priority check-in, baggage drop-off, and boarding.
  • Choose preferred or extra legroom seats for free, starting 24 hours before departure.
  • Complimentary standard seats at booking.

Final Thoughts

If you're looking to lock in Flying Blue elite status for little effort and have an interest in padding your mileage balance, the Air France KLM Visa is running a great offer at a great time. However, this card isn't for everyone.

It's not a secret that Flying Blue miles are easily accessible. Several credit card rewards programs offer transfers to Flying Blue. For some, the flexibility of transferable rewards is preferable to holding a co-branded card with limited redemption options. Chase Ultimate Rewards and American Express Membership Rewards are two notable programs with a bevy of point-earning cards that offer 1:1 transfers to the joint loyalty program of KLM and Air France.

Additionally, the benefits of Flying Blue Silver status are somewhat slim. However, if you can use the Air France KLM Visa‘s allotment of XPs to make a push for a higher tier of Flying Blue elite status that translates to SkyTeam Elite Plus status, that's where the benefits start to shine.

We're not sure how long the elevated offer for the Air France KLM Visa will be on the table, but if it piqued your interest, be sure to submit an application before it disappears.
