Disney fans have a new option for a co-branded credit card from Chase. Starting today, you'll be able to apply for the Disney® Inspire Visa® Card, which charges a $149 annual fee. This is quite a bit higher than the $0 annual fee Disney® Visa® Card and the $49 annual fee Disney® Premier Visa® Card. In exchange, you'll get a variety of benefits, including annual statement credits, Disney Rewards Dollars, and exclusive benefits at Disney properties.

Here's what you need to know about the new Disney Inspire Visa.

Disney Inspire Visa Card Overview

The new Disney Inspire Visa Card comes packed with benefits that any Disney lover can appreciate. Now, Disney enthusiasts have three credit cards to choose from, helping you find one more tailored to your needs.

Disney Inspire Visa Card holders can enjoy:

  • 200 Disney Rewards Dollars after spending $2,000 in your cardmember anniversary year on U.S. Disney Resorts stays and Disney Cruise Line bookings.
  • A $100 statement credit when you spend $200 per cardmember anniversary year on U.S. Disney Theme Park Tickets.
  • Up to $120 annual credit on Disney+, Hulu, and Plus.ESPN.com purchases.
  • 10% off select purchases at DisneyStore.com and on select merchandise purchases and dining purchases (most days) at select locations at Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort. Disney Inspire Visa Card Welcome Bonus and Earning Categories

Welcome bonus

New cardholders can also earn a $300 Disney Gift Card eGift when approved for the Disney Inspire Visa Card and a $300 statement credit after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. New cardholders will also enjoy a 0% promo APR for six months on select Disney Vacation packages.

Earning categories

Rather than earning cash back, you'll earn Disney Rewards Dollars on every purchase. Cardholders will earn the following:

  • 10% at DisneyPlus.com, Hulu.com, and Plus.ESPN.com
  • 3% at most other U.S. Disney locations and gas stations
  • 2% at grocery stores and restaurants
  • 1% on all other card purchases

You can then use your Disney Rewards Dollars to buy Disney Theme Park tickets, resort stays, shopping, and dining in the U.S.; for Disney Cruise Line packages, onboard activities, and souvenirs; for purchases at DisneyStore.com; to see the latest Disney movies at AMC Theaters; or for airline purchases using Pay Yourself Back for statement credits.

If you decide to get the card, you won't pay foreign transaction fees when you use your card abroad. That said, most of the benefits of the Disney Inspire Visa are for U.S. Disney locations, including the ability to earn bonus Disney Rewards Dollars on your Disney purchases. Odds are, you won't find the Disney Inspire Visa very helpful if you're going to Disney properties around the world.

How the Disney Inspire Visa Stacks Up

Each of the three Disney cards offers discounts on merchandise, dining, and guided tours at the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, along with cardmember-exclusive photo opportunities. The difference between the cards lies in their earning potential and additional benefits.

Disney Premier Visa cardholders earn 5% on Disney streaming purchases, 2% at gas stations, grocery stores, and U.S. Disney locations, and 1% on all other purchases. Disney Visa Card holders earn a flat 1% on all purchases. The new Disney Inspire Visa earns significantly more on Disney streaming purchases, offers higher returns on Disney and gas purchases, and adds restaurants as a 2% bonus category. If you spend a lot in these categories, it may be worth choosing the Disney Inspire over the other cards.

Plus, the new Disney Inspire adds the opportunity to earn statement credits or Disney Rewards Dollars on Disney streaming services, U.S. Disney Resort stays, and U.S. Disney theme park tickets. Assuming you already subscribe to Disney+, and you take one or two vacations to Disney each year, there's a high likelihood you'll earn these credits. However, the Disney Inspire Visa's annual fee is three times the annual fee of the Disney Premier Visa, so you'll need to factor that into your calculations.

With exclusive Disney perks like discounts on shopping and dining at Disney locations, cardholders earn up to 5% back on purchases (issued as Disney Rewards Dollars) which you can redeem toward Disney products and experiences. This card also features fun Disney character designs and brings the magic of Disney to everyday spending, ideal for those planning their next Disney adventure.
  • 5% on card purchases made directly at DisneyPlus.com, Hulu.com or ESPNPlus.com
  • 2% on card purchases at gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and most other Disney U.S. locations
  • 1% on all your other card purchases
  • *Rewards are issued as Disney Rewards Dollars

Our Take

Unless you go to Disney multiple times each year, it likely doesn't make sense to apply for a co-branded Disney credit card. However, if you spend enough to earn the 200 Disney Rewards Dollars and $100 statement credit each cardmember anniversary year, you can come out ahead of the annual fee. If you decide to apply, you can choose from five Disney Inspire Card-exclusive designs, in addition to the 11 designs available to other Disney credit card holders.

If not, consider a general travel rewards card that might offer higher returns on your Disney spending. However, it's hard to find a card that allows you to redeem rewards for Disney purchases — more often than not, Disney tickets won't appear in a credit card travel portal. However, as long as your purchase codes as travel, you can redeem your Capital One miles at a flat rate of 1 cent per mile against any travel purchase.
