On the heels of major airlines launching basic premium fare classes — including Air Canada introducing Business Basic and Delta adding $500 change fees on Basic Business — Allegiant is stepping up its game.
Allegiant announced in July that it would add a complimentary beverage service on all Allegiant flights and introduce an all-new Allegiant First cabin in the spring of 2027. We finally have information on how much these fancy new seats will cost, so let's dive in.
Allegiant Launches In-Flight Beverage Service
In-flight beverage service on all Allegiant flights began on August 1, 2026. Free beverages include sodas, juice, and water. For a low-cost carrier, this is a major improvement. Some of Allegiant's routes can reach five or more hours, and having to pay $4 for a bit of water or a soda is annoying.
If you have the Allways Rewards Visa® Credit Card, you can enjoy additional beverage options — including items from the elevated beverages menu, such as coffee, protein shakes, Powerade, or an alcoholic beverage.
Cardholders are limited to one free beverage per flight, up to $16 of value. Fortunately, almost all alcoholic beverages on board fall under this threshold, save for Don Julio Tequila and select wines.
Being able to drink a cold brew or a margarita on your next flight might not be reason enough to sign up for a new credit card, but it's great when existing cardholders get additional meaningful benefits.

Allegiant First Coming Spring 2027
Another huge announcement is the debut of Allegiant First. It will be phased in on select aircraft in 2027. Allegiant First will consist of eight seats in a two-by-two configuration at the front of the aircraft, offering a five-inch recline, calf rests, adjustable headrests, more legroom, and a 37-inch pitch.
Allegiant First will complement Allegiant Extra, which offers extra legroom and guaranteed overhead bin space. Every seat will offer USB Type-A and Type-C ports, plus a 120V power outlet so you can stay connected during your journey.
To put that into context, the pitch in first class on Delta's A319 is between 35 and 37 inches and doesn't offer a calf rest, so Allegiant appears to be offering a very similar (or even slightly improved) product as the major U.S. airlines.
Passengers will also receive enhanced amenities and upgraded service elements, including complimentary drinks and snacks, for anyone seeking a more premium travel option. You'll receive priority check-in and boarding, and the fare will include one personal item, one carry-on bag, and one checked bag up to 70 pounds.
You'll even be able to cancel for a refund to your original form of payment and enjoy no change fees. However, there are likely restrictions on how close to your flight you can request a refund, but Allegiant's cancellation fees page hasn't been updated with Allegiant First yet.
Allegiant First debut timeline and routes
As first reported by The Points Guy, select Allegiant flights are already on sale for spring 2027 departures. The first routes to get the service will be to and from Ft. Myers/Punta Gorda (PGD), and flights to/from Tampa/St. Pete (PIE) will come shortly thereafter.
Allegiant hasn't publicized which routes will get first class service. We know Allegiant doesn't plan to retrofit its entire fleet with a first-class cabin, so it can be tricky to figure out which routes do and do not offer the service.
This is where a FlightConnections premium membership comes in extremely handy. FlightConnections allows you to filter by airline and cabin. Click Allegiant and Business Class, and you'll see bookable routes.
For instance, you can fly from Punta Gorda to Cincinnati (CVG) in April 2027 for $627 one-way in Allegiant First. That's a pretty astronomical price, especially considering an economy ticket is just $300.
Keep in mind that first class won't be available on every flight between two destinations. In this example, Allegiant First was only available on the April 8 flight — not on any other day of the week.
However, Allegiant connects many secondary markets that don't necessarily have nonstop routes between them. For instance, if you want to fly between Punta Gorda and Cincinnati, Allegiant is pretty much your only option.
Similarly, you can fly from Punta Gorda to Concord, North Carolina (USA) for $357 in Allegiant First. This is more than triple the cost of an economy ticket, and the flight is less than two hours.

Will Allegiant First be worth it?
It's hard to say whether Allegiant First is worth it without experiencing it. Allegiant is known for offering very competitive fares, but these premium cabin rates come with a premium cost that is hard to justify. However, a free carry-on and checked bag up to 70 pounds can save you a ton of money.
For instance, on a flight from Punta Gorda (PGD) to Cincinnati (PVG), you'd pay $70 for a standard checked bag and another $70 for a carry-on if you added them after booking. Are you an overpacker? You'll pay another $50 if your checked bag weighs between 51 and 70 pounds. All in, you could be paying $190 for your luggage. Add that to the standard $300 economy ticket, and you're only $137 off from the Allegiant First pricing.
That said, baggage can be much more affordable if you add it to your reservation when you book, and only you can decide whether the upcharge is worth the better perks and in-flight experience.
Bottom Line
It's always exciting when an airline surprises us in a good way. All too often, airlines try to sell us worse experiences for more money, but now loyal Allegiant flyers will have a new and improved fare class to choose from when booking their next flight. And regardless of the cabin, you can now stay hydrated for free throughout your travels.
The Allegiant First rollout is well underway, and we should get more information on Allegiant's aircraft deployment plans, routes, and onboard features later this year.
