SIXT might not get as much publicity as Hertz or Enterprise, but it has a surprisingly lucrative SIXT ONE Rewards loyalty program. It also has several partners, including a hotel partner that also doesn't get the publicity it deserves: Preferred Hotels and Resorts.

I Prefer members can save on rentals, earn bonus points on rentals, and even request a SIXT status match. Here's everything you need to know about the I Prefer and SIXT partnership.

I Prefer Partnership With SIXT Car Rentals

Although SIXT's presence in the U.S. is smaller than other car rental companies — and it's sometimes more expensive than competitors — it has a high-quality, modern fleet. The company is family-owned and has over 2,000 rental locations in more than 105 countries.

SIXT partners with several airlines, hotels, and other companies like FoundersCard. Many of these partnerships (but not all) come with added bonuses, including discounts, bonus points, and a status match opportunity.

The I Prefer and SIXT partnership is far more lucrative than many partnerships. I Prefer members receive the following benefits with SIXT car rentals:

• 5,000 bonus I Prefer points with every SIXT rental worldwide
• Up to 15% discount and exclusive rates through a status match
• Access to the modern fleet with the average car only 6 months old
• No change or cancellation fees when booking a “stay flexible” rate
• No credit card fees

Earn 5,000 bonus points with SIXT car rentals

One of the main benefits of the Preferred Hotels and SIXT partnership is the opportunity to earn 5,000 bonus I Prefer points with eligible SIXT car rentals worldwide.

Note that not all SIXT car rentals earn I Prefer bonus points. Here are the exceptions:

• Van and truck rentals
• Insurance-replacement rentals
• Long-term rentals (28 days or longer)
• Rentals with vouchers
• Rentals with the payment method prepaid (“Pay now”) – except for rentals in the USA and Canada
• Rentals with a value below €25 or equivalent in local currency
• Rentals via partner companies (e.g. automobile clubs)
• Certain B2B company framework rates

Keep in mind that I Prefer points are worth only about 0.2¢ each when redeemed for Reward Certificates, making 5,000 points worth about $10. You can potentially squeeze outsized value from your points by redeeming for award nights starting at 15,000 points per night. In other words, you could get a free night after just three car rentals.

SIXT has a ton of different partners you can choose from. For instance, you can choose to earn $10 Discovery Dollars (equivalent to $10 USD) or up to 3 Flying Blue miles per €1 instead. In the end, as always, it comes down to how you value your points, which program you're loyal to, and if you can get a better deal through another booking platform.

Remember to always use the best credit card for travel purchases, including car rentals, to maximize your rewards.

SIXT status match

I Prefer members can participate in a SIXT ONE status match. I Prefer Silver and Gold will match to SIXT ONE Gold status and enjoy up to a 10% discount, the ability to skip the counter, and access to member-only offers.

Meanwhile, I Prefer Titanium members can match to SIXT ONE Platinum status, which comes with up to a 15% discount and free upgrades.
