Looking for great award deals using American Airlines miles? You can currently book round-trip economy awards with American Airlines between the U.S. and Europe for as few as 42,000 AAdvantage miles.
Want a better, more comfortable seat? How does 56,000 miles each way in business class to Europe sound? Not fancy enough? There's availability for Flagship First on a handful of dates available for just 66,000 AAdvantage miles each way!
Here's what we're seeing with these American Airlines award deals between Europe and the U.S.
American Airlines Award Deals to Europe in Economy
We're seeing economy flights to Europe for 21,000 miles each way — or 42,000 miles round-trip. We see award space at this price to/from these cities:
- Charlotte (CLT)
- Los Angeles (LAX)
- Miami (MIA)
- New York (JFK)
- London (LHR)
- Madrid (MAD)
- Munich (MUC)
- Paris (CDG)
However, there may be more cities available. It's worth checking if you're looking to fly elsewhere.
Many of these awards cost 42,000 miles per person round-trip in economy, plus $49.45 in taxes and fees — with truly widespread availability:
Much of this availability is in early 2024, stretching from January to March.
However, there are dates in November and early December 2023, as well.
Keep in mind that flights departing Germany will have slightly higher cash components due to higher departure taxes. For example, this route between Los Angeles (LAX) and Munich (MUC) has $129.45 in taxes and fees round-trip.
American Airlines Award Deals to Europe in Business Class
For those wanting to redeem AA miles to fly in business class, there's good availability from the same cities mentioned above. Awards on partner airlines cost just 57,500 miles one-way. Availability is wide-open. However, this deal is often paired with very high taxes and fees.
If you want to avoid the high taxes and fees, limit your award search to American Airlines-operated flights. When booking a round-trip, you can pay as few as 56,000 AAdvantage miles each way:
Only booking one-way? There's widespread availability on certain routes from 67,000 AAdvantage miles each way. And you'll only need to pay $5.60 one-way in taxes and fees.
The best availability for business awards is to/from London (LHR). Beware of the taxes and fees you'll pay on flights departing London — especially in premium cabins.
Award Space in American Airlines Flagship First Class
Even fancier, there's availability for Flagship First Class for 66,000 miles each way on select dates! To get this screaming deal, you'll need to book a round-trip award:
If you want to fly one-way, the price jumps to 79,000 AAdvantage miles each way, which is still a pretty good deal:
Those prices aren't widespread, however. There's more availability for 85,000 miles on additional dates. Again, you'll want to limit search results to American Airlines-operated flights to avoid the high taxes and fees on British Airways-operated awards.
Want to really maximize your experience? Book a flight from Los Angeles (LAX) or Orange County (SNA) to London (LHR) connecting through New York (JFK) to fly both American Airlines Flagship First Class products (A321T and 777-300ER) back-to-back. Plus, enjoy access to the new Chelsea Lounge in JFK — which is exclusive to first-class passengers:
As with the other awards, you'll find available dates in November and December 2023 plus widespread availability in January–March 2024.
For business and first class, the best availability is through London. However, additional cities are available — though with fewer dates offering the best prices.
How to Earn AAdvantage Miles
Looking to boost your AAdvantage account to book these American Airlines award deals? There are several ways to do that.
You can transfer Bilt Rewards to American Airlines at a 1:1 ratio. You also can transfer Marriott points to American Airlines at a 3:1 ratio. Sadly, you'll no longer get a 5,000-mile bonus when transferring 60k Bonvoy points to American Airlines.
Other earning options include the numerous American Airlines co-branded credit cards, providing miles from sign-up bonuses and everyday spending. You also can earn miles from dining programs, online shopping, taking surveys, and even by saving money with Bask Bank.

Our Take
Any time there's widespread award availability at great prices, we want to tell our readers about it. If you're looking for a great deal using American Airlines miles between the U.S. and Europe, there's currently some great availability in economy, business, and first. Some of these deals are truly incredible, such as those from Los Angeles to London at bargain prices of 21k in economy, 56k each way in business class, or 66k each way in first class.
As with all deals, prices can change as flights fill up, thanks to AA's use of dynamic pricing. It could be worth putting an award on hold or even booking it while you confirm your plans. That way, the seats don't disappear and prices don't go up while you wait for your boss to approve your vacation request. AA doesn't charge fees for changing or canceling award bookings.

That´s awsome. Do you know if there is any chance of getting that kind of deal from Washinton DC?
Yes, we are seeing these deals from IAD as well! Keep in mind that you’ll need to book a roundtrip to get the cheapest price: https://awardwallet.com/blog/american-airlines-mileage-discount-roundtrip-awards/
Wonder why we do not see any of these departing Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW. American’s home airport?
Chuck, it could be a number of reasons. The best prices already sold out, lack of seats (due to a busy airport), not releasing the cheapest prices there… I can only speculate.
