The average American pays for four streaming services each year, so card issuers are adapting to offer cards with cash back or a statement credit when paying for them. An excellent benefit of the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express is 6% cash back on select U.S. streaming subscriptions.
As of January 30, 2025, cardholders can earn cash back with 32 streaming services — including new additions such as AMC+ and Starz. Here are the details of the additions as well as the full list of eligible services.
Amex Expands the Streaming Services Category for the Blue Cash Preferred
The Blue Cash Preferred is already the best credit card for earning cash back on streaming services, and it just got better. Recently, Amex added additional streaming services for the bonus category. In August 2024, Amex added MGM+ to the list, and effective January 30, 2025, the following streaming platforms were added, bringing the full list to 32.
- AMC+
- Britbox
- Discovery+
- Starz

To get 6% cash back, cardholders must make purchases with one of the eligible service providers. There is no limit to how much cash back you can earn with this benefit. However, if your subscription is bundled with another product or service or billed by a third party, your purchase might not be eligible for cash back.
Blue Cash Preferred cardholders can also save up to $84 annually with all purchases made through DisneyPlus.com, Hulu.com, or Plus.ESPN.com. To receive your up-to-$7 monthly statement credit, cardholders must spend at least $9.99 that month through one of the three eligible websites. Enrollment is required for select Amex benefits.
The Blue Cash Preferred has a $0 intro annual fee for the first year, then $95 (Rates & Fees), so these benefits should help justify its long-term annual fee. Just don't try to cover the entire annual fee with the streaming services cash back; no one should spend $1,600 on streaming services annually, but if they do, at least use the card that offers the best cashback.
- Earn a $250 statement credit after you spend $3,000 in eligible purchases on your new Card within the first 6 months.
- $0 intro annual fee for the first year, then $95.
- Buy Now, Pay Later: Enjoy $0 intro plan fees when you use Plan It® to split up large purchases into monthly installments with a fixed fee. Pay $0 intro plan fees on plans created during the first 12 months from the date of account opening. Plans created after that will have a monthly plan fee up to 1.33% of each eligible purchase amount moved into a plan based on the plan duration, the APR that would otherwise apply to the purchase, and other factors.
- Low Intro APR: 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 12 months from the date of account opening. After that, your APR will be a variable APR of 20.24% - 29.24%.

Our Take
Amex continues to add more eligible streaming services to the Blue Cash Preferred, and now AMC+, Britbox, Discovery+, and Starz also give a 6% cash back. If you pay for streaming services, including music services like Spotify, you should have the Blue Cash Preferred in your wallet. The card also gives 6% cash back at U.S. supermarkets (up to $6,000 in purchases annually, then 1%), 3% cash back at U.S. gas stations and transit, and 1% cash back on all other purchases — so it's one worth keeping on your radar.
