This is Hertz's top status, offering numerous perks on your next rental.

Obtaining this status is quick and easy. Here's how it works.

Hertz President's Circle Status With Amex Platinum

Amex Platinum cardholders can enroll to get several rental car benefits for free, including Avis Preferred Plus status, Hertz Gold Plus status, and National Car Rental Emerald Club Executive status. Cardholders do not receive these elite status tiers by default. You need to register for them individually in the Amex offers dashboard.

For some time now, a little-known promotion for Amex Platinum cardholders has provided the opportunity to upgrade their Hertz Gold Plus status to President's Circle status.

Our Take

Up to now, the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card has been the only card that came with complimentary Hertz President's Circle status (through December 31, 2024). The addition of three more cards is great news. Hertz might not be the most popular car rental service at this time, due to a massive 2022 devaluation of its awards. Nevertheless, if you are going to rent Hertz, at least you can have top-tier elite status benefits as an Amex Platinum cardholder. And you also can use this status to match to other rental car programs.

  • This is not new. Auto pres. circle has been part of Amex plat for quite some time

    • Ryan Smith says:

Hi Rob, we aren’t saying it’s new. However, many people don’t know about it, so it’s worth telling them.

  • Adventure NML says:

Anyone know if this is through end of 2023 or just 2022? There’s not much left of 2022, but that’s all my app is showing right now. I can’t even find the expiration on the website at all. Hertz IT I guess…

  • I like the idea of this promo with Amex Plat. However, I am nervous about Hertz, since I have heard rumors that people have been falsely accused of things and some arrested even if they hadn’t rented at that time with Hertz. Anyone had any issues with hertz?
