Delta is boosting the rewards for gas purchases this summer. Delta SkyMiles cardholders can register to earn up to 6X miles at U.S. gas stations through August 31, 2025. This promotion has different versions, so you'll need to check your dashboard to find your targeted offer. Here are the details.
Up to 6X Miles on Gas Purchases for Delta SkyMiles Cardholders
Delta SkyMiles cards are not typically the best credit cards for gas purchases. In fact, none of the cards offer more than 1X miles at gas stations. Well, until now.
Through August 31, Delta SkyMiles cardholders can register to earn up to 6X bonus miles on gas purchases at U.S. gas stations. There are at least two versions of this promotion:
- Earn 5 bonus miles per dollar (6X rewards) on gas purchases, up to 2,000 bonus miles
- Earn 3 bonus miles per dollar (4X rewards) on gas purchases, up to 5,000 bonus miles
Cardholders will earn their targeted bonus amount on all gas purchases at U.S. gas stations. Unfortunately, gas stations located on-site at superstores, supermarkets, and warehouse clubs are ineligible. In other words, no Costco or Sam's Club gas purchases.
The following cards should all be eligible for this promotion:
- Delta SkyMiles® Blue American Express Card
- Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card
- Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card
- Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card
If you don't have one of these cards, now is an excellent time to get one as Delta is offering elevated card offers:

- 2X miles per dollar spent at U.S. supermarkets

Our Take
Delta SkyMiles credit cardholders can earn up to 6X miles on U.S. gas station purchases after registering for a new targeted promotion. The offer runs through August 31, 2025, and boosts earnings on a category where Delta cards normally only earn 1X.
Versions of this promo vary — some members are targeted for 6X on up to 2,000 bonus miles, while others get 4X on up to 5,000 bonus miles. You can activate your offer via your Amex account dashboard. Just note that purchases at gas stations within superstores, supermarkets, and warehouse clubs do not qualify.
