That offer—which launched in November 2019—required you to spend $10,000 to earn the full bonus. So, for many, the current bonus will be a better deal.

United Explorer Card Feature Benefits

In addition to the increased bonus, cardmembers can take advantage of a range of perks and benefits, including:

  • Two United Club one-time passes each anniversary—over a $100 value. (You must be traveling with United or a partner airline to use this benefit.)

Who’s Eligible for the United Cards?

If you are a current United Club Infinite or United Explorer Card cardholder—or you have received a welcome bonus on one of these cards in the previous 24 months—you won’t be eligible for to get that same card.

“This product is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of this credit card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of this credit card who received a new Cardmember bonus for this credit card within the last 24 months.”

However, there is no restriction on applying for one of these cards if you already hold a different United card. (i.e. You can get the United Club Infinite if you have the United Explorer Card and vice versa.)

In short, if this will be the second time you apply for the card, you'll need to proceed carefully. Make sure that it's been at least 24 months since the last time that you earned the sign-up bonus. Otherwise, you won't be eligible.

Like all Chase cards, these United cards are subject to Chase’s 5/24 policy. If you’ve opened five or more credit cards in the previous 24 months, you will not be approved for this card.

Our Take

The limited-time offers on the United cards allow you to bank a substantial balance of United miles. Plus, you'll get access to some fantastic perks and benefits when flying United. If you only fly United a couple of times per year, the United Explorer Card is the perfect United co-brand card. Between the free checked bags and lounge benefits, it'll be easy to justify the annual fee of holding this card.

If you're a dedicated United fan but don’t fly enough to secure top-tier status, the United Club Infinite provides elite-level perks including a United Club membership and Premier Access, plus you can leverage fantastic travel protection benefits when your travels don’t go according to plan.

Whether you’re a United fan or simply looking to diversify your points portfolio, now is a great time to get a United credit card.

  • 100k points for $95 is a steal! I love to use the United Points to europe. Would highly recommend this one if pre-planning a trip!

  • High annual fee and high sign up bonus. Proportional at least.

  • Been waiting on an offer bump to have P2 get one of these. Great time to do it.

    • So, I’m curious to a fault and certainly paused on “P2.” But, I’m not at all confident after a search. Person 2 in your household?

      • Yeah, I assume that Chris is referring to a “person 2” in the household – like a spouse or significant other.

  • With the latest devaluation, this card should offer 150K bonus points instead of 100K, haha.

  • Let’s hope that the card fee will be frozen for a long, long time.

  • The United Club is sure invaluable in comparison with the annual fee.

  • If United hadn’t “bonvoyed” their MileagePlus program, this would have been a great deal but given the changes to the MP redemptions, the value of the miles have gone down. So unless there is a specific redemption that works, its probably a pass.

  • Even if should pay 525$ annual fee, But It’s worth to apply as have so many more UA miles. Hope i can travel asap.

  • Tempting, but I’m not a huge United fan – maybe if it was Delta I’d be more interested.

  • Some airlines play favorites and offer more seats to their own members. I’m super happy with this, i fly a lot and all the changes are always positives at least for me

  • I’m currently a full Chase Sapphire member with links to points on United.
Is this card better benefit for me and can I link all my accounts to it.

    • If you can swing it, I’d get both! The United card’s sign-up bonus is rich, plus it gets you expanded award availability with United. That means you can get even more value when redeeming United miles (whether transferred from the Sapphire card or earned on the United card). And no need to worry about linking your accounts. As long as you put your United MileagePlus number in the application, everything should be automatically linked.

  • Man…not sure I want to drop $525, but that is an awesome bonus on the United Club Infinite Card.

  • The Explorer card is great for the expanded award availability.
