IHG One Rewards just emailed members about the opportunity to boost recently earned points by up to 12X with a discount of up to 35%. Points multipliers like this can be a great way to boost your balance. But the critical question is: Is the purchase rate worth it?

Let's dive into IHG's latest points accelerator/multiplier/boost offer to see when using it might make sense.

IHG Points Accelerator Promotion Details

If you're an IHG One Rewards member and have earned points recently, check your email to see if you're targeted to boost your points. The IHG Points Accelerator lets you buy IHG points at a discount by multiplying your recent earnings.

This promotion lets members boost their April 2026 IHG points earnings by the following multiples:

  • 1x for a 20% discount
  • 4x for a 25% discount
  • 6x for a 30% discount
  • 12x for a 35% discount

The purchase rate may vary from offer to offer. In my case, I'm able to boost the 3,550 IHG points I earned during April 2026 at the following rates:

  • $22.15 for 3,550 points (0.62 cents per point)
  • $83.08 for 14,200 points (0.59 cents per point)
  • $116.30 for 21,300 points (0.55 cents per point)
  • $215.98 for 42,600 points (0.51 cents per point)

If you want to utilize this promotion, you have until May 31, 2026 to boost your points. The terms note that points can take up to five days to post to your account. If you need the points sooner, use another way to get IHG points.

Is It Worth Using the IHG Points Accelerator?

This promotion effectively lets members buy IHG points for 0.51 cents each. That's a pretty excellent rate considering AwardWallet users have redeemed IHG points for an average of 0.68 cents each.

However, there might be a cheaper way for you to score IHG points. Regular IHG buy points promotions often allow you to purchase points with up to a 100% bonus, depending on the offer. A 100% bonus lets you effectively purchase points for as cheap as 0.5 cents each.

That rate is ever-so-slightly cheaper than this IHG Points Accelerator — and it doesn't lock you into specific multiples of what you've recently earned.

Other Ways To Get IHG Points

At its base, the IHG Points Accelerator is essentially a method of buying IHG points. If you're looking to boost your IHG points balance, you have other ways to do so.

The following points transfer to IHG One Rewards — although the subpar transfer rates usually make this a poor redemption.

Our Take

If you're looking for creative ways to boost your IHG points balance, the IHG Points Accelerator fits the bill. At a time when there's no IHG buy points promotion, this promotion offers a chance to boost your April 2026 earnings by up to 12x at an excellent rate.

Just remember that there are plenty of other ways to earn IHG points. You can amass bonus points with IHG credit cards or top off your account using IHG transfer partners. And, if you don't have an immediate need for the points, stick around for another sale offering IHG points at a better price.
