Since revamping its previous loyalty program, Mileage Plan, into its newest iteration, Atmos Rewards, Alaska Airlines has made flexibility a key part of the experience. That’s why starting in 2026, Atmos Rewards members will be able to choose a community that best tailors the program’s perks to what matters most to them.
While not all communities are live yet, the promise of fare deals, more curated perks, and partner offers for every kind of traveler is already starting to take shape. Here's what we know so far about Atmos Rewards Communities.

How Atmos Rewards Communities Works
To be part of an Atmos Rewards community, you’ll first need to choose one to join. Starting in 2026, new Atmos Rewards members will be prompted to select a community when creating an account, and existing members can do so by visiting Alaska Airlines’ communities site. Once you’ve chosen the community that best aligns with your interests, you’re free to switch to a different one for the following year.

If you actively manage your children’s accounts and they’re under 16 years of age, you’ll need to call Alaska’s Atmos Rewards agents for help enrolling them in a community.
Active Atmos Rewards Communities
There are currently only two communities open for member enrollment, and unsurprisingly, they’re designed to reward the two groups this new Alaska-Hawaiian merger most represents.
Club 49
One of the communities that has long kept Alaska Airlines close to people’s lives (and livelihoods) is residents of the 49th state in the Union: Alaska. By joining this community, members can enjoy free checked bags when flying to, from, or even within the many destinations in the state served by Alaska Airlines.
Club 49 members also receive airfare discounts, including two “travel now” discounts each year that provide 30% off a one-way ticket in a refundable Y-Class fare to, from, or within Alaska, as long as it’s booked within four days of departure.
And for those who need to ship cargo with Alaska, Club 49 members can access reduced freight rates within the state. The Freight for Less program allows members to ship up to 100 lbs. for $49 plus tax.

Huaka'i by Hawaiian
With so many fans of Hawaiian Airlines joining the loyalty community, it only makes sense for the airline to show Hawaii residents some extra love. Members of the Huaka‘i by Hawaiian community will enjoy a free checked bag as a benefit, along with discounts on neighbor island flights when hopping between islands within the state.
And while an exact date hasn’t been announced yet, starting later in 2026, members will also earn 50% more bonus points and status points on eligible intra-island flights.

Atmos Rewards Communities Coming Soon
Several additional Atmos Rewards communities have been teased so far, with a promise of going live later in 2026. Here are the details available so far for these upcoming communities, so you can keep an eye out once enrollment begins.
Global Locals
Atmos Rewards members who live outside the United States will likely welcome this community designed for travelers based abroad. Once enrolled, those who can’t fly Alaska or Hawaiian as frequently as U.S. residents will have a faster path to elite status.
Plus, members will enjoy additional perks, including earning 20% more status points on flights that begin and/or end outside the United States.
Culinary Journeys
This is the community I’m looking forward to most, since there’s only one thing I enjoy as much as travel: eating. While the details haven’t been fully fleshed out yet, Alaska says members will “earn bonus points and status points on travel to select culinary destinations, with rewards that grow as you visit more places from our list.”
Additionally, members of this community will receive 20% off Atmos Rewards Unlocked experiences centered around food and wine.

Active Escapes
Time to get back to nature. Members of this community will earn bonus points and status points when flying to select outdoors-focused destinations, with bonuses increasing as you visit more places from Alaska’s list.
Plus, redemptions for Atmos Rewards Unlocked experiences curated for outdoor enthusiasts will cost 20% fewer points.
Families On the Go
For families who travel together, this community will likely feel the most rewarding. So far, Alaska says members will earn bonus points and status points when visiting top family vacation destinations, with bigger bonuses as you check off more places from the airline’s list.
On top of that, members will get 20% back when redeeming points for flights for children under 12, along with 20% off kid-friendly Atmos Rewards Unlocked experiences.
Bottom Line
For those of us who fly Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines often, it’s a no-brainer to spend a few minutes exploring these communities to see if one matches your travel style. Once you find the right fit and enroll (once enrollment formally opens later this year), you could be on your way to earning extra miles, saving money on future flights, and even enjoying perks like free checked bags on select destinations.
