World of Hyatt elite status offers some excellent perks. But climbing the ladder from Discoverist to Explorist — and eventually to top-tier Hyatt Globalist — is no small feat. Thankfully, one of the standout features of the Hyatt program is its Milestone Rewards, which are choice benefits you can unlock at various thresholds along the way.

From bonus points to Suite Upgrade Awards to Club Lounge access and more, here's all you need to know about the World of Hyatt Milestone Rewards and how to earn them in 2025.

What Are Hyatt Milestone Rewards?

Hyatt's Milestone Rewards are the unique perks you earn en route to qualifying for World of Hyatt elite status. When you stay a specific number of tier-qualifying elite nights in properties belonging to the Hyatt hotel chain (through an eligible paid rate or free night award) or earn a certain number of base points in a calendar year, you'll hit various milestones.

As you stay more nights at Hyatt hotels or participating properties or earn more base points, you can reach higher-value Milestone Rewards, including Suite Upgrades, FIND credits, American Airlines AAdvantage® elite status, and much more.

You'll earn Milestone Rewards starting at 20 qualifying nights or 35,000 base points. And the choices in front of you will get more interesting the more nights or base points you collect.

How To Earn Hyatt Milestone Rewards

The primary way to earn Hyatt Milestone Rewards is by earning Hyatt Elite Night Credits through hotel stays, credit card spending, or gifting certain perks.

Alternatively, you can reach Milestone Reward tiers by earning enough base points. The most obvious way would be by staying at properties in the Hyatt program and adding your loyalty number to the reservation. Reward members earn five points per $1 spent (pre-taxes) on the room rate and most other charges.

You also can earn base points by booking stays at Mr & Mrs Smith properties through Hyatt channels or reserving a vacation rental through Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt. You'll earn five base points per $1 spent on eligible stays at either brand. Plus, you'll net one qualifying night credit for each night you stay.

FIND experiences also present a great way to earn base points. World of Hyatt members will earn 10 base points per $1 spent. There might not be a cooler way to earn Milestone Rewards, qualify for Discoverist status, or break into other elite tiers than snorkeling with sea turtles.

American Airlines AAdvantage benefits

World of Hyatt and American Airlines have had a longstanding partnership, though it underwent sweeping changes at the beginning of 2025. While certain features, like earning AAdvantage miles on Hyatt stays and vice versa, are no longer available, the recent changes introduced new Milestone Rewards options for Hyatt members.

At various thresholds, Hyatt members can select the following types of rewards:

  • Preferred Seat Coupons on American Airlines
  • Main Cabin Extra Seat Coupons on American Airlines
  • AAdvantage Gold or AAdvantage Platinum elite status

Depending on your loyalty to American Airlines, these choices can make sense in the right circumstances, but it's worth noting that seat coupons, for example, are easily overshadowed by other choices like Suite Upgrade Awards.

Which Milestone Rewards Are Best?

The best Hyatt Milestone Rewards choice is going to depend on your travel style. Generally, the best value is found with the points and upgrades. At higher tiers, earning American Airlines elite status can be highly valuable as well.

Let's break down each of the options to help you decide which is best.

Bonus points

Given that World of Hyatt points are worth 2.19¢ each to AwardWallet users, the 5,000 and 10,000 bonus points you can earn at different tiers are worth around $110 and $220, respectively.

Award stays in standard rooms start at 3,500 points, which means the choice of bonus points can potentially mean a night on the house — or more. Fancy a few free nights in Bali? Nights at the Alila Manggis start at 3,500 World of Hyatt points per night during off-peak dates.

Or, if you already have points or pay for a night out of pocket, you could apply a Suite Upgrade Award to a stay here and bump to a suite for up to seven nights.

Suite upgrade awards

Suite Upgrade Awards are another quality Hyatt Milestone Rewards program option. You can redeem suite upgrades on paid nights at an eligible rate, award bookings in standard rooms, and even on Points + Cash awards at Hyatt hotels. However, you can't redeem these on the same stay as one booked with free night certificates.

Hyatt only requires you to cash in one Suite Upgrade Award per reservation (up to seven nights). That said, maximizing Suite Upgrade Awards will be a challenge if you stay in one property for only a night at a time. If that's how you travel, you'll have a more difficult time maximizing a Suite Upgrade Award.

Plus, Suite Upgrade Awards are only valid for standard suites. Like other hotel chains, each Hyatt property has a different definition of what a “standard suite” is. All to say, your mileage may vary if your suite is substantially larger than a standard room.

And don't forget, those with Globalist status (and, by extension, Lifetime Globalist members) are also entitled to space-available room upgrades to standard suites at check-in. And this comes in addition to the four Suite Upgrade Awards you get just for achieving Globalist elite status.

If you choose Suite Upgrade Awards through the Hyatt Milestone Rewards program and can't use them, you can transfer them to another World of Hyatt member online. Like Free Night Awards, Club Lounge Access Awards, and Guest of Honor Awards, Suite Upgrade Awards can be moved to any other member from your Hyatt account on Hyatt.com or within the app.

Awards can only be transferred once and can't be returned to the original World of Hyatt member. You'll want to be sure before completing the transfer.

American Airlines elite status

Something new in the roster of Hyatt Milestone Rewards for 2025 is American Airlines AAdvantage elite status. At 70, 80, or 90 qualifying nights, you can select AAdvantage Gold status. AAdvantage Platinum status is up for grabs every 10 nights you stay between 100 and 150 nights. You can select either status once if you earn the requisite number of qualifying nights.

For the right traveler, electing American Airlines elite status over Suite Upgrade Awards, bonus points, or Miraval Extra Night Awards makes a lot of sense. If you fly American regularly (or switch your loyalty to the carrier after making your Milestone Rewards selection), status can help you save on bags and seat selection and even score you an occasional complimentary upgrade.

However, the choice of AA elite status loses its luster if you already have Gold or Platinum status, will earn it through flying this year (for work or leisure) or shopping online, or if you can replicate a lot of the benefits it offers by applying for an American Airlines credit card.

Why Milestone Rewards Are Worth It

World of Hyatt's Milestone Rewards program makes the path to the brand's three elite tiers more lucrative. Even better, you can earn Milestone Rewards starting at just 20 elite qualifying nights or 35,000 base points. That means you don't have to wait to reach the Discoverist status tier or Globalist status to enjoy quality perks and benefits.

After reaching the first threshold, Hyatt offers additional rewards incrementally until you earn 60 nights or 100,000 base points. After that, more rewards come every 10 nights. Like with most programs where you can receive milestone rewards, it's not worth chasing them outright.

Think of Club Lounge Access awards, bonus points, and multiple denominations of an additional Suite Upgrade Award as nothing more than icing on the Hyatt cake. Valuable perks? Yes. But more so when you're already chasing World of Hyatt elite status.
