What better way to start your day than enjoying some breakfast before you even leave your hotel? There are many ways to get a free breakfast across Hyatt brands. Whether it’s by earning elite status, staying at a hotel that includes breakfast, or simply choosing the right room rate, this article will help you find a way to get your first meal of the day for free on your next stay.
How to Get Free Breakfast at Hyatt
If you've been wondering whether you'll enjoy free breakfast on your next Hyatt stay, the short answer is: “It depends.” Travelers have several ways to get a free breakfast at nearly every Hyatt property by being savvy or just planning ahead.
We've rounded up seven ways to snag a free breakfast on your next World of Hyatt stay. Some of your options include status, awards, inclusive rates and more. And there are additional ways to save money if you absolutely have to pay.
Of the full buffet of options, you'll more than likely find one or two for your stay.
Earn Globalist status
One of the best perks of Globalist status is free daily breakfast for you and your travel companions. It's the only tier of Hyatt elite status that offers this perk.
While it might not be exciting when you're traveling for work and staying at a basic hotel, it can be a standout benefit at luxury brands, higher-category properties, or international locations.
Globalists receive free daily breakfast for up to two adults and two children, as long as everyone is registered on the room. And you can earn Globalist status after collecting 60 qualifying nights in a calendar year, which are earned through stays, credit card spend, or meetings and events.
Breakfast offerings vary widely across the Hyatt portfolio. At no-frills properties in the U.S., expect simple items like drip coffee, a pastry, and boxed orange juice. At upscale and international hotels, breakfast often includes specialty coffee drinks, à la carte menu options, and even buffets as far as the eye can see.

Be a Guest of Honor
Hyatt’s Milestone Rewards program allows frequent guests to earn Guest of Honor Awards. And you can earn them starting at 40 nights or 65,000 base points.
These awards can be applied to a reservation to provide the guest with Globalist benefits for their stay, including daily breakfast. Guest of Honor can be used for up to seven nights. For a family of four traveling together, this could represent significant savings on free breakfast. In addition, these awards can also be gifted to another traveler for them to trial the Globalist experience.

Redeem a Club Access Award
Another useful perk you can earn via Milestone Rewards is Club Access Awards. These awards can be applied to reservations to upgrade your stay of up to seven days to a room that allows access to the Club at certain properties, generally on the higher end of the spectrum.
In a hotel with a Club, you can enjoy free breakfast for you and your traveling companions, but that's not all. Many properties also serve hors d'oeuvres, snacks, drinks, cocktails, coffee, and tea at different times during the day.
World of Hyatt members amassing as few as 20 elite night credits can choose two club access awards as their Milestone Reward benefit.
These rewards expire 12 months after they are issued, so use them wisely. Since they’re valid for stays of up to seven nights, they’re best applied to longer stays or properties where lounge access would otherwise be expensive. Just note that benefits only apply when booking directly through Hyatt.
Stay at an all-inclusive property
At Hyatt’s all-inclusive resorts, breakfast is always included, along with all other meals and drinks. This includes brands like Alua, Breathless, Dreams, Miraval, Secrets, Sunscape, Vivid, Ziva, Zilara, and Zoetry.

Miraval properties in the Berkshires, Austin, Tucson and even The Red Sea, in Saudi Arabia, are all-inclusive. Members who stay 100 nights or more at Hyatt properties can select a Miraval Extra Night award through Milestone Rewards, which adds a second night to an eligible stay for free.
Yes, I know — I hesitate to include all-inclusive properties under the “free breakfast” banner because you're essentially paying for all meals in the room rate, but let's be open-minded and read “at no extra cost” here.
Stay at a property that offers breakfast to everyone
Another path to free breakfast begins by becoming a World of Hyatt member (you can join here). Several hotels offer breakfast to members and their guests, and other properties just offer free breakfast to anyone staying with them.
In the U.S., brands that include this perk include family-friendly options like Hyatt Place and Hyatt House. These hotels typically offer more than just a continental breakfast, including hot sandwiches, pastries, fruit, cereal, yogurt, and hot items like waffles, bacon, and eggs. Coffee and tea should be included, as well.
Not all Hyatt Place or Hyatt House hotels offer complimentary breakfast, so be sure to check the hotel’s website before booking or arrival to ensure you know what's included. For most hotels, breakfast is usually served in the lobby and doesn't require a reservation.

Reserve a breakfast-inclusive room rate
Sometimes, it's worth reading the fine print. In other words, some room rates include complimentary breakfast — even at Grand Hyatt properties. Your experience will vary depending on where you go and your property's specific offerings, but you can very well get a free breakfast just by booking the cheapest rate.
However, this is much more common in properties outside the United States. For example, the “Members Save More” rate at the Grand Hyatt Athens offers registered guests free breakfast.

And again, unless you see a specific rate showing breakfast included that is lower than a rate that does not include it, booking a breakfast-inclusive rate will most likely have the cost of the breakfast built into the per-night cost and therefore not be free.
Book your stay via select travel agencies
Travel advisors are making a comeback, and using one to book your next Hyatt stay can snag you some pretty amazing benefits. Certain travel advisors, like my husband Jon, for example, have access to special rates from Hyatt Prive, Hyatt's special program for advisors at select properties.
Some hotels may not participate in Prive but instead offer special programs like Virtuoso, American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts, The Edit by Chase, or Visa Signature Hotels.
As part of one of these special bookings, guests will get breakfast for two each day of their stay, along with, at most locations, a property credit that can be used to offset extra charges like spa treatments, dinners at onsite restaurants, or cocktails at hotel bars.
How to Save Money on Breakfast at Hyatt Hotels
It may seem counterintuitive, but if you’re looking for more upscale hotels, you can book rooms with club lounge access to ensure you'll receive breakfast at no extra cost to you and a few other perks. While not every Hyatt property has them, Hyatt Regency, Grand Hyatt, and Park Hyatt properties generally offer club lounges.
In these lounges, you’ll find daily breakfast each morning, fruit and pastries available throughout the day, a light evening snack, and a bar. Also, not that you need more breakfast options at an all-inclusive property, but keep in mind that many of Hyatt's all-inclusive resorts also have club lounges accessible through club-level rooms and suites, and these offer breakfast options.

Fortunately, rooms offering club access have clear terms. The number of guests covered in the Hyatt free breakfast benefit depends on the Hyatt member occupancy guidelines for each property.
To book club-level rooms at a hotel, simply book rooms specifying club access with points, cash, or a combo of the two using Pay My Way. Likewise, you can book suites using points (or upgrade to a suite from a standard reservation with cash), and these should also provide club access.

Bottom Line
With these many free breakfast options, it's possible to start the day the right way. You don’t always have to earn elite status to qualify, either. By earning Milestone Rewards, choosing the right room type, or staying at a Hyatt that offers breakfast for everyone, options to get free breakfast abound. You just need to understand the policies and the requirement to book directly if you enjoy perks at hotel restaurants through the rewards program. The only thing better than free nights at a hotel is when they also include free food.
