Avelo Airlines fans, we’ve got good news. In partnership with Cardless (a fintech card issuer) Avelo Airlines launched its first co-brand credit card: the Avelo Airlines World Elite Mastercard. It’s a surprisingly solid product and worth a look if you regularly fly Avelo and travel with a carry-on bag.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Avelo Airlines World Elite Mastercard and how to apply.

Overview of the Avelo Airlines World Elite Mastercard

The Avelo Airlines World Elite Mastercard is here and now open for applications. The card carries a modest $99 annual fee (at least for a mid-tier product) and comes with a useful set of benefits that Avelo flyers will likely appreciate.

This is a Cardless credit card issued by First Electronic Bank. If you already have other Cardless cards, you shouldn’t be boxed out from applying, as Cardless dropped its old one-card-per-consumer rule last year. As with any credit card, though, you’ll have better approval odds if you have a healthy credit score and haven’t applied for too many cards recently.

But let’s take a step back. Why might this card make sense for an Avelo flyer in the first place? Let’s take a look.

Welcome bonus

Everybody loves a new cardmember welcome bonus, and the Avelo Airlines World Elite Mastercard has one of its own. New applicants can earn 25,000 bonus points, equal to $250 in Avelo Cash, after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first 90 days from account opening.

You can use Avelo Cash to offset the cost of an Avelo booking, including travel extras like bags and seat selection. These rewards won't expire as long as your card account is active and in good standing.

Benefits

Avelo Airlines is a low-cost carrier, which often means paying extra for things like seat selection and luggage. But you can avoid some of those fees by carrying the Avelo Airlines World Elite Mastercard.

The card offers the following benefits for the primary cardholder and everyone on the same reservation:

  • Free carry-on bag
  • Free standard seat assignment
  • Free priority boarding

After just a couple of flights, it’s easy to see how you could recoup the card’s $99 annual fee. You might even come out ahead based on the complimentary carry-on bag benefit alone.

In addition to these airline perks, cardholders also receive Mastercard World Elite benefits. These include partner merchant offers like Lyft and Peacock, access to the World Elite Concierge, and more.

Earning rates

The Avelo Airlines World Elite Mastercard has two bonus categories, and they’re fairly useful. The card earns Avelo Cash as follows:

  • 5% Avelo Cash on eligible Avelo purchases
  • 2% Avelo Cash on other eligible purchases

There are plenty of cards that earn rewards on travel and airfare purchases. But if you regularly book Avelo flights, the 5% earning rate, combined with the card’s benefits, can make this a worthwhile addition to your wallet.

Bottom Line

If you like flying Avelo Airlines, an easy way to reward your bookings and lighten the load on your wallet is to apply for the Avelo Airlines World Elite Mastercard. Its combination of airline perks and elevated earning rates on select purchases makes it an easy get if you fly Avelo more than a few times a year. Over time, it could unlock some meaningful savings.
