Air Canada added yet another Aeroplan redemption partner — and this one’s a great get if travel to Italy (and beyond) is in the cards. The latest addition is ITA Airways, and we’ll show you how Aeroplan prices these awards and how to earn the points you need to book them.
Air Canada Adds Aeroplan Redemptions on ITA Airways
Air Canada’s relationship with ITA Airways predates the new ability to redeem Aeroplan points for ITA flights. Since mid-2025, the two airlines have had an extensive codeshare agreement. At that time, ITA was still a member of SkyTeam, but the partnership has now expanded to let Aeroplan members redeem points across ITA’s entire network.
Now that ITA is a member of Star Alliance, this development makes a good amount of sense. It also unlocks another way to reach Italy using points and miles, which is always welcome.
Like most Aeroplan partners, ITA redemptions follow a distance-based award chart. While some Aeroplan partner awards are priced dynamically, ITA awards are not.
So, if you’re planning a trip from North America to Italy, you’ll want to familiarize yourself with this award chart:

Most of ITA’s routes from North America to its hub in Rome (FCO) cost 40,000 points in economy or 70,000 points in business class. However, we’re seeing more availability in economy than in business class.

On the bright side, there’s plenty of availability on ITA’s intra-Europe flights. Air Canada publishes a separate award chart (PDF) for travel within the Atlantic zone, but to give you an idea of the pricing, you can fly from Rome (FCO) to Athens (ATH) for 7,500 points in economy or 15,000 points in business class, plus taxes and fees.

Bottom Line
One of our favorite things about the Air Canada Aeroplan program is the sheer number of partner airlines you can book with points. This makes Aeroplan points incredibly versatile. No matter where you want to go, there’s a good chance you can book multiple airlines through Aeroplan to reach your destination. And we’re big fans of having options, which is all the more reason to keep earning and burning Aeroplan points.
