It feels like we're playing a bad game of dominoes. Today, the new 4:3 transfer ratio to World of Hyatt for select Chase cardholders — including the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card — took effect.

Now, we just learned that Bilt is devaluing transfers to World of Hyatt from 1:1 to 4:3 effective January 1, 2027. Here's what to know.

Bilt To Devalue Hyatt Transfers in 2027

Bilt has historically been somewhat of a buffer among transferable point currencies. When seemingly every other program devalues a transfer ratio, Bilt holds strong.

For instance, in 2025, American Express, Capital One, and Citi all devalued transfers to Emirates Skywards — while Chase removed Emirates as a partner entirely. However, you can still transfer your Bilt Points to Emirates at a 1:1 ratio. Unfortunately, Bilt's determination to avoid devaluing transfer ratios appears to be crumbling.

As you can see in the screenshot below, the World of Hyatt partner page on Bilt's website now displays the following message:

“The transfer ratio for World of Hyatt will change to 4:3 beginning January 1, 2027.”

When Chase devalued transfers to Hyatt, it only impacted select cards. Premium Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders can continue to transfer to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio.

Bilt isn't extending the same generosity to its premium cardholders. This update impacts Bilt Points earned through Bilt's neighborhood partners as well as all Bilt cardholders:

Should you transfer Bilt Points to Hyatt now?

This news might leave you wondering if you should transfer your Bilt points to World of Hyatt before this change takes effect. We don't recommend transferring points speculatively. Thankfully, Bilt gave plenty of advance notice about this devaluation. You have the rest of the year to transfer points at a 1:1 ratio.

If you've historically gotten excellent value from your Hyatt points and want to keep booking Hyatt stays, you could make the case for transferring as many Bilt points as you can to Hyatt at the end of December. However, programs are known to devalue — as evidenced by Hyatt's award chart overhaul earlier this year — so you risk moving your points to Hyatt, only for Hyatt to increase award costs across the board a few months later. Plus, your points are then subject to Hyatt's expiration policy.

Other Ways To Earn Hyatt Points

In late 2025, Chase and Hyatt teased that a new Hyatt card is on the way. The year isn't over, so maybe we will find out that these devaluations have been paving the way for Hyatt to market a premium card for Hyatt loyalists to enjoy. This is all just speculation, but it could make sense.

The only points that transfer to Hyatt are Bilt points and Ultimate Rewards:

Bottom Line

Devaluations aren't fun, and there's no sugarcoating them. Right now, you can transfer 100,000 Bilt points for 100,000 World of Hyatt points. Starting January 1, 2027, when you transfer 100,000 Bilt points, you'll get just 75,000 World of Hyatt points. You'll need to transfer 134,000 Bilt points just to book the same 100,000-point stay — a 34% increase.

Over the next few months, you'll need to decide whether to convert your points at a 1:1 ratio or roll the dice and use your Bilt points with other partners.
