We love best-ever welcome bonuses. And we love them even more when they come from cards with no annual fee. And if you want to grab a best-ever welcome bonus on a no-fee card, look no further than the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card (Rates & Fees).

This card is currently offering $1,000 cash back after you meet the minimum spending requirements.

While the bonus is advertised as cash back, you can redeem it for far more than the face value if you hold a qualifying Chase card. That's because you can combine your cash back into Ultimate Rewards points.

Let's take a closer look at this Ink Unlimited offer.

Why Should You Get the Ink Unlimited?

The Ink Unlimited is perfect for small business owners who like simplicity. It offers a competitive 1.5% cash back on all purchases while charging no annual fee alongside offering a few useful travel and purchase protection benefits.

And to top all that off, new applicants can take advantage of a $1,000 bonus after you spend $8,000 on purchases in the first 4 months from account opening.

What is the Ink Unlimited sign-up bonus worth?

At face value, the Ink Unlimited‘s sign-up bonus is worth $1,000.

However, this offer can be worth far more than $1,000 if you pair your rewards with a premium Ultimate Rewards card, such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (Rates & Fees), the Chase Sapphire Reserve® (Rates & Fees), or the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card (Rates & Fees).

If you can maximize Chase's travel partners after combining your rewards, the Ink Unlimited‘s welcome offer is worth closer to $2,000 — based on the 2.02¢ apiece rate AwardWallet users typically redeem Chase points for.

Ink Unlimited key benefits

For a no-annual-fee card, the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card has a decent assortment of benefits. Some of the top examples include:

  • Employee cards at no additional cost
  • Earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase made for your business. That means there's no need to keep track of spending categories.
  • Primary rental car theft and collision damage coverage
  • Purchase protections including 120 days of damage and theft protection and one year of extended warranty protection

Does the Ink Unlimited Earn Points or Cash Back?

The Ink Unlimited earns Ultimate Rewards points. However, these points can't be transferred to Chase's airline and hotel transfer partners — unless you combine points with one of several other Ultimate Rewards cards (see below).

If you only hold the no-annual-fee Ink Unlimited, you can redeem these points for:

  • Up to 1.25¢ per point for eligible purchases through Pay Yourself Back
  • 1¢ per point as cash back (statement credit or direct deposit), gift cards, and travel booked through the Chase Travel℠ portal
  • 0.8¢ per point toward Amazon purchases

However, Chase lets cardholders to combine points between different accounts — including between business and personal accounts. That means you can transfer the points earned from the Ink Unlimited welcome offer to Ultimate Rewards partners if you have one of these cards:

Combining points with one of the above cards will also make your points more valuable for booking travel through the Chase Travel portal. Instead of redeeming at 1¢ per point, you'll get up 2¢ apiece, depending on which card you hold. In short, the no-annual-fee Ink Unlimited is even better when paired with another Ultimate Rewards-earning card.

Ink Unlimited Application Restrictions

In addition to your overall creditworthiness, Chase can restrict Ink card approvals based on its unpublished 5/24 policy.

Chase applies this policy to all Chase personal cards and generally applies this policy to Ink business cards as well. That means you'll want to check your 5/24 status to ensure you're under 5/24 before applying. If you're under 5/24, you should be eligible for the Ink Unlimited.

Business credit cards generally don't count toward your 5/24 status. As the Ink Unlimited is a small business card, opening it won't hurt your 5/24 status for future Chase applications.

Also, note that Chase typically won't approve applicants for more than two personal credit cards within a 30-day period or more than one business credit card within a 90-day period. There are also specific terms that determine who is eligible for the welcome bonus:

“The new cardmember bonus may not be available to you if you have ever had this card or any other Chase for Business card without an annual fee. We may also consider factors pertinent to your business in determining your bonus eligibility.”

Bear these rules in mind if you're considering applying.

Our Take

Earning a 100,000-point (or $1,000) bonus on a no-annual-fee card is simply incredible. This bonus is the highest sign-up bonus we've ever seen Chase offer for the Ink Unlimited.

In fact, this is one of the highest sign-up bonuses we've seen on any of Chase's no-annual-fee cards! And if you're eligible, this isn't one to let slip away.
