Right now, Delta is offering flights for as few as 2,000 SkyMiles in the month of March. Longer, coast-to-coast flights are also pricing as low as 4,500 SkyMiles each way. The routes to get flights for only 2,000 are quite limited, but it looks like nearly all Delta flights are heavily discounted—especially for the next few weeks.

With such a great award price, it's not surprising that the routes are limited. I'm finding 2,000-SkyMiles flights currently limited to the west coast. For example, you can fly between San Francisco (SFO) and Seattle (SEA):

Or between Seattle (SEA) and Phoenix (PHX) for just 2,000 miles each way.

FrequentMiler reported seeing flights from Seattle to Los Angeles for 2,000. The flights are now available for 3,000 SkyMiles.

While the 2,000-3,000-mile routes are limited, plenty of other routes are available for cheap. Many popular routes out of Atlanta (ATL) are just 4,500 miles each way.

Not all routes are cheaper though. Seattle to Missoula, Montana (a route I'm likely to take myself), is still over 10,000 SkyMiles for a one-way flight.

Long-Distance Flights for 4,500 SkyMiles

If you're looking to travel coast to coast, it's possible to find flights for as little as 4,500 SkyMiles. Flying between Los Angeles and Miami (either way) can be purchased with 4,500 SkyMiles. So can flights between Los Angeles and Denver—which could be great for a ski trip.

Our Take

These 2,000-mile flights are the cheapest award rates that we've seen from a legacy airline. While we still aren't a fan of Delta eliminating its award chart, cheap award flights like this are made possible by that change.

It's also not surprising that the cheapest of these flights only run through the end of March 2021—although the prices are still discounted after March. Travel demand is typically bad in the first few months of the year, and this year is even worse. Delta is no doubt trying to get some customers back in the air.

Either way, these flights are fantastic deals. If you have some SkyMiles saved up and are looking to book a trip, I'd highly recommend searching the routes and dates that you want to grab these discounted tickets while the deals are still available.
