Qantas launched an award flash sale offering members a 30% discount on domestic award bookings. The discount applies to economy awards within Australia. However, you need to hurry if you want to take advantage of the promotion. All bookings must be completed by January 22, 2023.

Getting Qantas Frequent Flyer Points
If you're not based in Australia, you might wonder how to get Qantas Frequent Flyer points to take advantage of this promotion. The good news for U.S. travelers is that Qantas is a transfer partner of most major transferrable points programs. You can transfer points to Qantas from the following programs:
- American Express Membership Rewards (1:1 transfer ratio)
- Capital One Miles (1:1)
- Citi ThankYou Points (1:1)
- Brex Rewards (1:1)

Is The Promotion Worth it?
Award travelers have plenty of options for booking domestic Qantas flights within Australia. Besides booking Qantas Frequent Flyer awards, you can book Qantas awards through partners like British Airways or American Airlines — both of which can provide even greater value.
To determine if a deal is worth booking, you need to look at your desired route and compare your options. For instance, consider a flight from Perth to Sydney.
The flight is just over 2,000 miles. Therefore according to the Qantas distance-based award chart, it should set you back 18,000 points plus taxes and fees one way in economy.
After this 30% domestic Qantas award discount, you would only need to pay 12,600 Qantas points (plus taxes and fees).
While that is excellent value, it can be beaten. If you have AAdvantage miles, you can book the same flight for 10,000 miles in economy or 20,000 miles in business (plus taxes and fees).
While AA offers the cheapest mileage price, British Airways Executive Club also offers a solid redemption option. The same Sydney to Perth route will set you back 13,000 Avios (plus taxes and fees).
Although the taxes and fees vary by program, they tend to be relatively low for domestic awards on Qantas. That being said, the out-of-pocket cost is still worth paying attention to — especially if you redeem British Airways Avios.

Any offer that increases the value of your miles is great news. However, this one requires careful number crunching to see if it works out for you. The major downside of this promotion is its very short booking window. However, if you’re planning on traveling down under during the promotion period, this offer may save you some points.
