Status Match to Alaska Airlines, Get Elite Perks Through 2025
If you're looking to pick up Alaska Airlines and Oneworld perks, you might consider initiating a status match to Mileage Plan. But you'll want to carefully consider the timing before you apply. That's because you can only status match to Alaska Airlines once in your lifetime. This offer isn't one you can take advantage of multiple times over.
After you fill out the form to match to one of three Mileage Plan elite tiers, you'll get complimentary Alaska status for 90 days. You can extend the life of your status past the trial period, but this requires flying a specific number of base miles on Alaska-operated flights. The requirements break down like this:
- MVP: Fly 5,000 base miles on Alaska Airlines.
- MVP Gold: Fly 10,000 base miles on Alaska Airlines.
- MVP Gold 75K: Fly 20,000 base miles on Alaska Airlines.
The length of time you can extend your status depends on when in the year you initiated your Alaska status match. If you apply between January and June of this year and meet the requirements to extend, your status is valid through the end of 2025. In other words, if you apply now and meet the status challenge requirements, you'll keep your status for nearly 10 months.
Or, if you can wait and apply between July and December of this year and collect enough base miles, your status will be valid until the end of the next calendar year. That means waiting until July 1, 2025, to apply could mean unlocking Alaska Mileage Plan status through December 31, 2026. That's up to 18 months of status from this match and challenge. That's why you need to pay close attention to timing.
