American Airlines just revealed the design of its new personalized, collectible luggage tag for AAdvantage members. These luggage tags will be available as a Loyalty Point Reward choice upon earning 15,000 Loyalty Points during the 2025 elite qualification year starting March 1, 2025.
First announced in December 2024 as part of American Airlines AAdvantage 2025 program changes, this reward choice will give travelers a way to showcase their loyalty with a custom tag featuring their name and AAdvantage status (if applicable).
Today, American Airlines unveiled the bag tag design reflecting the airline’s branding. While it won’t necessarily speed up bag handling or provide any functional travel benefits, it’s a nice way for AAdvantage members to display their status with a bit of flair.

The catch? You'll have to choose between this luggage tag and one of the other 15,000 Loyalty Point Reward options. Those other options include:
- 1,000 bonus Loyalty Points
- Priority privileges and Group 4 boarding for one trip
- 5 Preferred Seat coupons
Since AAdvantage members can choose only one reward upon reaching 15,000 Loyalty Points, these luggage tags will likely appeal most to higher-tier elites who have no difficulty earning enough points to maintain or advance their status.
For travelers who reach 15k Loyalty Points but aren’t on track to reach AAdvantage Gold status, more practical rewards — such as Preferred seat coupons or priority privileges for a trip — may offer better value.
To receive the personalized bag tag, members who cross 15,000 Loyalty Points can select it as their reward from their AAdvantage Loyalty Point Rewards dashboard once this goes live on March 1, 2025.
