The American Express Centurion Lounge at Salt Lake City International Airport — the airport’s first proprietary lounge by a card issuer — sets the bar as high as the Wasatch Mountains visible from its outdoor terrace. Amex is set to cut the ribbon on the new lounge today (October 28, 2025) at 1 p.m.

Amex’s foray into SLC coincides with the airport’s ambitious plans to expand and upgrade passenger facilities. The brand-new 18,000-square-foot space makes perfect sense given the growing number of eligible Card Members who pass through SLC each year.

But ambitious is the word of the day. And it reflects a lot of what you’ll find inside, from the ski-lodge-inspired Hearth Room to a branded coffee bar, globally inspired menus, and that year-round outdoor terrace.

Here’s a look inside the lounge and what you can expect on your visit.

Amex Centurion Lounge SLC Location

The Centurion Lounge at Salt Lake City International Airport sits in the eastern wing of Concourse B. This part of the concourse opened in October 2025 and is still undergoing a multi-phase expansion and modernization.

You’ll find the lounge entrance airside near Gate B31. For now, this gate sits near the end of the Concourse B extension. Additional gates east of the lounge are scheduled to open in October 2026, which should make the lounge feel more centrally located within the concourse.

All of Salt Lake City’s gates are connected airside, but the airport’s main terminal — where you’ll find airline check-in counters and security — and Concourse A are separated from Concourse B by two 1,200-foot walkways: the older mid-concourse tunnel and the newer central “River” tunnel.

The fastest route from the terminal or Concourse A to the Amex Centurion Lounge SLC is through the River tunnel. Once you exit the tunnel, make a right turn and follow the signage.

The walk from Concourse A, where the new tunnel begins, to the Centurion Lounge should take no longer than 10 minutes if you’re moving with a purpose or using the moving walkways.

Amex Centurion Lounge SLC Access

The Amex Centurion Lounge in Salt Lake City is open daily from 4:45 a.m. to 11:15 p.m.

American Express Card Members with an Amex Centurion Card or a Platinum-branded card — such as the American Express Platinum Card® or The Business Platinum Card® from American Express — have unlimited access to the Amex Centurion Lounge SLC and other Centurion Lounges in Amex’s global network.

Similarly, Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card and Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card Members also receive complimentary entry when flying on a same-day Delta-marketed or Delta-operated flight.

Amex has tightened its Centurion Lounge guest policy in recent years to combat overcrowding by introducing spending thresholds for complimentary access. Platinum Card® and Business Platinum Card Members can unlock complimentary guest privileges after spending $75,000 or more in a calendar year on their card.

Those who haven’t met the spending requirement can still bring guests for $50 per adult and $30 per child ages 2 to 17, while children under 2 can enter free of charge with proof of age. Centurion and Amex Corporate Platinum Card Members are exceptions to this rule and can bring up to two complimentary guests per visit.

Entry is limited to within three hours of your scheduled departure time. However, the three-hour rule does not usually apply to connecting flights.

Amex Centurion Lounge SLC Design and Layout

The Centurion Lounge at Salt Lake City International Airport measures 18,000 square feet. It’s one of the larger outposts in Amex’s network and second only to the Centurion Lounge at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL).

Even with its larger footprint, Amex didn’t miss the chance to make this location stand out. From the moment you walk in, the attention to the guest experience is apparent. At the entrance, guests are met by a decorative ceiling installation made of hand-poured salt glass flakes. The design is a nod to Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats.

Local inspiration extends throughout the lounge’s artwork as well. That includes Erin Blundell’s take on the American Express bulldog mascot. Here, she imagined it as a woven tapestry inspired by Salt Lake City’s topography.

You’ll also find locally influenced art near the coffee bar, where a ceiling installation by Lindsey Adelman depicts constellations that can be seen in Utah’s low-light skies.

This thoughtful art collection gives the Centurion Lounge SLC a welcoming, homey feel. It’s a cozy space to grab a seat and relax, find a table to work at, or gather with friends to recap your trip to Utah or plan another one.

As with other Centurion Lounges, Amex has filled the space with a wide variety of seating for every type of traveler. You’ll find chairs and tables in all kinds of configurations throughout the lounge. And while there’s plenty of seating, it still may not be enough. Centurion Lounges are popular for a reason, and this one will likely be no different.

Amex Centurion Lounge SLC Food and Beverage

The food and beverage program at the Salt Lake City Centurion Lounge is as comprehensive as it is globally inspired.

Amex partnered with four acclaimed chefs and a mixologist to create a rotating selection of seasonal dishes and drinks as part of its “Culinary Collective by The Centurion® Lounge.” The initiative reflects Amex’s reinvestment in its lounge dining experience and brings fresh, chef-inspired menus to each of its outposts.

To give you an idea of what to expect at the buffet, think:

  • Caribbean wedding soup from Chef Kwame Onwuachi
  • Farro pilaf from Chef Mashama Bailey
  • Grilled cabbage with tehina, harissa, and mint from Chef Mike Solomonov
  • Earl Grey panna cotta with gingered apple and maple oat crumble from Chef Sarah Grueneberg

Each of the plates I sampled at the media preview was excellent. But like at other Amex lounges I’ve visited, I’m always partial to the chocolate chip cookies. They’re consistently delicious, in my opinion.

And the cookies pair perfectly with a warm espresso. Mugs — along with other coffee beverages like cold brew and seasonal drinks — are served fresh from the lounge’s in-house Blue Roast by American Express Coffee Bar.

If you’d rather pair your cookie with something stronger, like a bourbon, you can take your pick at one of two bars. Each offers a wide range of beverages, including hand-picked wines, non-alcoholic options, and cocktails crafted by Culinary Collective mixologist Harrison Ginsberg.

Ginsberg's signature creation for the Salt Lake City Centurion Lounge is the Park City Sling. It's a combination of gin, tart cherry, and lemon.

Amex rounds out its food and beverage offerings with several self-serve stations located conveniently throughout the lounge. These include coffee machines, water taps, and even more chocolate chip cookies.

Amex Centurion Lounge SLC Amenities

The Centurion Lounge at Salt Lake City is home to a collection of amenities. Some are unique to this location and others are common across Amex’s entire network.

Since this article has my name on it, I’ll start with my favorite: the outdoor terrace. The year-round space is a great place to get some fresh air and take in the views of the Wasatch Mountains.

Those familiar with Salt Lake know it can get pretty chilly here, so the fireplace and heaters in the colder months is a must.

This is just one of a couple fireplaces you’ll find inside the Amex Centurion Lounge SLC. The second sits in the lounge’s Hearth Room, which channels the vibe of a luxury ski lodge. For those not sure what a “Hearth Room” is, it's really just code for a cozy space to kick back and recharge before your flight.

Relaxation and recovery are major themes here. Amex even invested in a dedicated recovery room for what it calls “post-adventure renewal.” The space features plush lounge chairs and wellness amenities like compression boots, massage guns, and a menu of light bites. It’s arguably the most practical place to unwind in the lounge after an extended trip to the slopes.

Amex also outfitted its Salt Lake City Centurion Lounge with the brand’s customary amenities, including private phone nooks and first come first served workspaces.

A single shower suite and restrooms are available as well, and as usual, Amex makes these feel premium. I’m personally a sucker for a shower before getting on a plane. And I’m glad Amex brought those facilities to SLC.

High-speed Wi-Fi and plenty of power outlets round out the guest experience. These have become essentials in any modern lounge, and Amex made sure its SLC outpost delivers on both.

Amex Centurion Lounge SLC Bottom Line

American Express continues to outdo itself with each new Centurion Lounge it opens. Its newest location at Salt Lake City International Airport gives Card Members a scenic place to enjoy a pre-flight meal, get some fresh air, and decompress before boarding.

The number of travelers passing through SLC has grown steadily over the past several years. The airport is now an increasingly important fortress hub for Delta, and as the airport’s first issuer-branded lounge, Amex has set the bar very high.

But as the saying goes, if you build it, they will come. Card Members can expect this lounge to become a popular spot for a pre-flight hangout. To make the most of your time on the ground in SLC, be sure to join the Centurion Lounge digital waitlist before your visit.
