The AwardWallet Plus price increase will take effect on December 18, 2024. That means Tuesday, December 17, 2024 is your last chance to lock in the current price for up to five years.

For over 20 years, AwardWallet has worked to make tracking your rewards balances and expiration dates as easy as possible. Supporting over 860,000 users requires significant resources, and after careful consideration, we’ve decided to increase the price of our premium product, AwardWallet Plus, for the first time since February 2017.

When a company asks you to pay more, you have every right to ask why. Many of our AwardWallet Plus subscribers have supported us for a very long time, and we think it's important to explain why we're raising prices and what you can expect in return if you subscribe to AwardWallet Plus.

Why We're Charging More for AwardWallet Plus

Over the years, the costs of providing our service have increased dramatically. The first reason is one we're all too familiar with: Rising costs for the technologies we rely on to keep AwardWallet running smoothly and securely.

At the same time, many of the loyalty programs we track have taken aggressive steps to make it harder for us to update your accounts and retrieve the information you depend on AwardWallet to provide.

In the good old days, AwardWallet could log into most accounts by securely providing the right credentials and grab everything in a few seconds. These days, we fight through a labyrinth of captchas, two-factor authentication, and other technology specifically designed to block our automated services.

Our dedicated (and incredible) dev team has made substantial investments to solve these challenges and ensure seamless account updates. Every time a loyalty program throws a new obstacle in our path, the team of devs at AwardWallet works to find a way to keep those accounts working for you.

We're incredibly proud to be holding our own in a technological arms race with huge companies that have far greater resources. But, unfortunately, these changes have made it impossible to continue offering AwardWallet Plus for just $30 per year.

New AwardWallet Plus Subscription Price

On December 18, 2024, the annual cost of an AwardWallet Plus membership will increase from $30 to $49.99. If your AwardWallet subscription is billed on or before December 17th, you won't be charged the new rate until your next renewal in 2025.

If you prefer to cancel your subscription, you can do that here. To avoid the higher price, just make sure to cancel before your next billing date — which you can find at the top of your AwardWallet profile.

How to Lock In $30 AwardWallet Plus Price for Up to Five Years

We know price increases are tough, so we want to reward our loyal users by offering the chance to lock in the current price for up to five years by prepaying those years at the current subscription price. This ensures you can enjoy the service at the current rate, even as we work to enhance the product.

The price increase on December 18th is permanent, and we have no plans to offer the $30 rate in the future. This is a one-time offer that will disappear on December 17th.

What to Expect in the Years to Come

When most companies announce a price increase, there is usually a shiny list of new features and promises of many more enhancements to come. Rest assured that the extra revenue from this price increase is going straight into making the product we all love better for everyone.

At AwardWallet, much of the work and investment happens behind the scenes. For example, this year we’ve completely rebuilt our extensions for Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. These new extensions will be deployed in early 2025 to handle the most difficult-to-update loyalty programs, making AwardWallet faster and more reliable.

That's not to say that we don't have some really great new features you'll definitely notice in the works. We just prefer to underpromise and overdeliver.

For those who decide to keep their subscription or take advantage of our limited-time offer to lock in the current price, know that we have no intention of coasting on our past achievements. We will continue to innovate to make it as easy as possible for you to track your mileage balances, expiration dates, and travel plans.

A Note to Our Early Supporters

A significant number of AwardWallet Plus subscribers have been with us for a decade or more. If you are one of them, we're incredibly grateful for your loyalty and patronage over the years. Without your collective support, we might never have made the transition from a scrappy startup to a stable company celebrating over 20 years in business.

We realize that many of you will be especially disappointed that the price increase applies to all AwardWallet Plus subscribers. Please know that we resisted making this decision for as long as possible. The increased cost to provide our service was simply too great to maintain our legacy pricing. A few years back, revenue from AwardWallet Plus covered over 30% of our operating costs. That figure has declined to around 15% in 2023.

We hope that many of you will choose to keep your subscription. For those of you who opt to transition to a free account, rest assured that doing so in no way diminishes our appreciation for your contribution over the years. We've taken note of who you are, and we won't forget it.

What If You Don't Want to Pay for AwardWallet Plus

AwardWallet will continue to offer a free user experience that is far better than any other free points and miles tracking service around. If you can't justify the $49.99 per year for the perks of AwardWallet Plus, we sincerely hope you'll continue to use a free account to track your rewards balances, expiration dates, and travel plans.

And while we're sad to lose you as a paying customer, you can still support our efforts by using our affiliate links on the blog when you decide to apply for a new rewards card or book travel.

Final Thoughts

This pricing adjustment wasn't an easy decision. After years of debate, we believe this step is necessary to best support our users. And it will allow us to continue to invest in new tools that we hope to share soon. Whether you upgrade, prepay for five years at the current rate, or stick with a free membership, we remain dedicated to providing a tool that makes managing your points, miles, and travel as seamless as possible.

AwardWallet Tip of The Day
Did you know that we display your elite status progress within the list of accounts? Each block in this progress bar represents an elite level. If you mouse over any of the blocks, it will show you the name of that elite level. Clicking it will open the account details on the 'Elite Levels' tab. This will show you exactly where you are regarding your elite status and what you need to do to reach the next level.
