Do you fly with Frontier Airlines often? If so, having elite status is a great way to avoid some of the fees (bags, seats, and the like) the low-cost carrier is known for. And to make it easy, Frontier is offering its loyalty members a chance to buy Frontier Elite Gold status through December 31, 2025, for $499.
Here's what you need to know about purchasing Frontier Elite Gold status and if it's worth the investment.
What Is Frontier Elite Gold Status?
In early 2024, Frontier significantly changed its frequent flyer program. The airline replaced its former Elite 20K, 50K, and 100K elite status tiers with Elite Silver, Elite Gold, Elite Platinum, and Elite Diamond. The latter three are comparable to the old three statuses. Elite Silver is new and undercuts the formerly known Elite 20K status, which is now called Elite Gold.

Elite Gold has a host of benefits that can make your future Frontier travel cheaper and less stressful. Here's a look at what you'll enjoy as an Elite Gold member:
- Earn 14X Frontier Miles and elite-qualifying points per $1 spent at flyfrontier.com.
- Complimentary carry-on bag.
- No change or cancellation fees outside of seven days before departure.
- Priority customer care.
- Access to family pooling.
- Priority Zone 1 boarding — and Zone 2 for everyone else on your reservation.
- Pick a standard or preferred seat at booking; pick a preferred or premium seat at check-in.
Frontier unbundled its fares in 2024, and some of these benefits now come with higher-dollar fares. But the biggest perk of having elite status is booking Frontier's cheapest fares and enjoying the benefits mentioned above, no matter what.
It's also worth noting that Frontier has big plans for 2025, such as rolling out first-class seats and an upgrade waitlist. Details are still slim, but we do know that Elite Gold members will be added to the upgrade waitlist, so that's another reason to consider picking up elite status for the coming year.
How To Buy Frontier Airlines Elite Gold Status
Ordinarily, you'll need to earn 20,000 elite-qualifying points to unlock Elite Gold status — but you can skip this process and buy Elite Gold outright for $499.
It's a much quicker (and likely cheaper) way of obtaining elite status than earning the elite status credits required by flying, purchasing travel extras, and spending on the FRONTIER Airlines World Mastercard®.
There's no end date to this offer, so time is of the essence if you plan to fly Frontier frequently in 2025. The perks you unlock will be valid through the end of the year. The only loose requirement to take advantage of this offer is that you need a “travel rewards card,” and you may be ineligible if you've taken advantage of this offer before.

Step 1: Check eligibility
To buy Elite Gold status, swing by Frontier's Get Status page and follow this easy two-step process. This offer is open to Frontier Miles members with a U.S.-issued “travel rewards credit card.”
We tested enrollment eligibility with these cards, which all worked: Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, American Express® Gold Card, Citi® / AAdvantage Business™ World Elite Mastercard®, and even the no-annual-fee Chase Freedom Flex℠.
Once you've confirmed your card is eligible, you'll receive a note congratulating you that your card qualifies.
Step 2: Finish and pay
From there, all you have to do is finish and pay. Once purchased, the elite status will reflect in your account within 12 hours and is valid through the end of 2025, regardless of when purchased. Therefore, it behooves members to purchase this status sooner rather than later.
Final Thoughts
Paying just under $500 for less than 12 months of Frontier Elite Gold status is an expensive proposition. However, it could still provide frequent Frontier travelers or families an inexpensive way to cover many of the fees none of us like to pay. For that reason, it's worth a look.
