Chase Ultimate Rewards are some of the most powerful transferable points out there. These highly versatile points offer various options to redeem for travel and allow you to unlock massive savings — and there are lots of Chase Ultimate Rewards cards for earning these points.
Better yet, most of these cards come with solid welcome offers and generous bonus spending categories. Just make sure you craft your Chase credit card strategy carefully to avoid losing out on reward-earning potential because of the bank's application rules.
Although Chase offers many products that earn Ultimate Rewards points, not every card lets you transfer those points to travel partners. The no-annual-fee Chase Sapphire® Card is a good example. However, if you hold a premium product (with an annual fee) and a card that does not allow transfers, you can bypass this limitation by combining your Chase points.
Here are all of the cards that earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

“Closed to New Applicants” Cards That Earn Ultimate Rewards
There are a handful of cards that Chase no longer offers to new applicants but are still available for current cardholders to use. Here's what you need to know about these cards.
Chase Sapphire® Card
The Chase Sapphire® Card charges no annual fee and earns Ultimate Rewards points, but you can't transfer points to Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer partners. Also, the card has rather disappointing earning rates: 2X on dining and 1X on everything else. However, you'll get access to key Chase card perks like select travel protections and card offers.
Chase Ink Plus® Business Credit Card
If you are lucky enough to hold an Ink Plus Card, you are one of the few who has access to incredible Ultimate Rewards-earning potential. This card earns 5X Ultimate Rewards on office supplies, wireless services, TV, and internet purchases — up to 250,000 Ultimate Rewards annually.
As the card is considered a premium product, cardholders can transfer their Ultimate Rewards to partners and redeem them via the Chase travel portal at an elevated rate of 1.25 cents per point.
Chase Ink Bold Business Charge Card
The Ink Bold Business Charge Card was discontinued in 2014. It is almost identical to the Ink Plus Card in all its features and earnings. However, it is a charge card rather than a credit card, meaning there is no preset spending limit, but you must pay the card off in full each month.
Chase Freedom®
The original Chase Freedom® card was discontinued several years ago and replaced by the Chase Freedom Flex℠. It earns 5% cash back in rotating bonus categories, which you must activate each quarter. Earnings are capped at $1,500 in combined quarterly spending. All other purchases earn 1% back.
Other Ways To Earn Chase Ultimate Rewards
Aside from credit card welcome bonuses and daily spending, there are three more great ways to earn Ultimate Rewards:
- Card referrals: Chase allows select personal and business cardholders to earn bonus points from referring someone who applies for a card and is approved after using your referral link. To see which refer-a-friend options are available, head to the Refer-A-Friend page and enter the required information. Chase will let you know which offers are available to you.
- Shopping portal: The Ultimate Rewards shopping portal allows you to earn more points when you shop with a qualifying merchant. Before you make a purchase online, head over to the Chase shopping portal to see if the store is eligible for bonus Ultimate Rewards.
- Chase Travel: As you've seen throughout the article, some Ultimate Rewards-earning credit cards earn bonus points when you book flights, hotels, and rental cars through Chase Travel. That said, only do this if the price makes sense. Also note that you may have less flexibility when booking through this portal, and hotel elite status benefits do not usually apply.
Ways To Redeem Ultimate Rewards
Earning Ultimate Rewards is only half of the fun. The other half is redeeming them. You can redeem your Ultimate Rewards for gift cards, Apple products, and even by Paying Yourself Back.
However, the best way to use Chase points is by transferring points to Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer partners. You can find fantastic value by transferring points to one of Chase's many partners at a 1:1 ratio. Here's a list of all the transfer partners and the time it'll take your Ultimate Rewards to show up in the airline or hotel account:
