While many of us save our hard-earned points for a once-in-a-lifetime vacation, sometimes it's nice to stay close to home during the summer. Sure, you could snag a staycation at a hotel or even a short flight to somewhere exciting, but what about doing a fun experience at a local restaurant, or taking in a show at your local theater? If you could use your points for one of those events, it would be a compelling option.

With the revamping of the Chase Sapphire Reserve® (Rates & Fees) and the introduction of the new Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ (Rates & Fees), Chase is pairing these exclusive cards with a few Summer, Reserved exclusive perks to tempt cardholders.

Now, you're able to use your points, of even pay outright, for some truly private and exclusive experiences available only to Reserve cardmembers.

Summer, Reserved

As part of these new exclusive benefits, you'll find events for foodies, centered around curated food and drinks in some of the country's larger cultural hubs. Some of these events are headlined by renowned chefs, others by famous artists, and they're all in phenomenal locations.

Restaurant takeovers

If you live (or are planning to visit) either New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, or The Hamptons, you may be in luck. Several restaurants in those cities are hosting restaurant takeovers by either working together with other, out-of-town chefs or restaurants to collab on new, exciting menus for a few days this summer.

These are some of the cities and restaurants where these events will be taking place. Hopefully, you'll be near one when they're taking place and can take advantage of these takeovers. Sadly, none in Seattle or any of the cities where I'll be traveling this summer.

Chicago

  • Mariscos San Pedro x Obelix
  • Cariño
  • Alla Vita
  • Asador Bastian

New York City

  • Don Angie
  • Chez Fifi
  • Kabawa
  • San Sabino x Lucali

Los Angeles

  • Majordomo x Loreto
  • Camelia
  • Amiga Amore

Nashville

  • Bad Idea x Krus Kitchen

Featured experiences

In other cities, Chase is hosting featured experiences. While all of them are one-offs, they all provide experiences that aren't normally accessible to anyone. Having one of the Reserve-branded cards gets your foot in the door.

  • Summer in the Hamptons includes a restaurant takeover that's hosted by nighttime radio host Delilah, aiming to bring new life to the Hamptons' busy nightlife. Places to attend this event have not yet gone on sale, but will soon.
  • In New York City, Dinner on the Stage with Lin-Manuel Miranda, cardholders can enjoy dinner at The Public Theater with Lin-Manuel Miranda to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Hamilton, and a chance for a meet-and-greet with this Broadway favorite. The event includes a cocktail hour followed by a sit-down dinner from acclaimed NYC restaurant Colonia Verde, plus a custom gift to take home. My first Broadway show before moving to the U.S. was Lin-Manuel Miranda's ‘In the Heights,' so you better believe I'll be trying to make my way to this event.
  • For foodie-cinephiles, AppleTV+ Summer Celebration in Los Angeles includes cocktails and a curated tasting menu at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Attendees will enjoy a celebration of AppleTV+'s shows and movies featuring behind-the-scenes and exclusive surprises from the studio. This actually sounds quite fun, and I can easily make it down to LA from Seattle, so stay tuned.
