If you've got a Chase Sapphire Reserve® (Rates & Fees), we've got good news. The annual opportunity to match to Marriott Bonvoy® Gold Elite status is back!

If you have the Sapphire Reserve — or the J.P. Morgan Reserve card — you can claim three months of complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status by registering by September 30, 2026. Then, if you complete just three eligible nights by that date, you can extend your status through February 2028.

Here's how to register.

Complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Trial for Sapphire Reserve Holders

Between July 1 and September 30, 2026, Sapphire Reserve cardholders can enroll to receive three complimentary months of Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status by visiting this registration page while logged in to their Chase account and selecting their Sapphire Reserve card.

If you're not already a Marriott Bonvoy member, you can join through this link and then register for the promotion through your Chase account.

Your Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status will be valid for three months after registration. To extend your elite status through February 2028, though, complete just three paid nights at any Marriott Bonvoy property before your complimentary status expires.

The nights can be separate or part of the same stay. Only paid nights qualify, not award nights, and they must be booked directly with Marriott. Nights booked through sites like Hotels.com or even the Chase Travel℠ portal won't count.

Terms and conditions

  • Registration for this offer closes on September 30, 2026.
  • Nights must be booked directly through Marriott (website, app, participating properties, or customer engagement centers). Stays booked through third-party sites like Expedia or Booking.com won't qualify or receive elite benefits.
  • Most registration requests are processed within three business days.
  • Stays completed before registration won't count toward the three nights needed to extend your status.
  • Members who already have Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status or higher aren't eligible for this offer.
  • Stays at Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy, Marriott Executive Apartments, and owner-occupied weeks at Marriott Vacation Club are not eligible. Only qualifying stays at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels booked through official Marriott channels count.

Other Ways to Get Complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold and Platinum Status

The Sapphire Reserve isn't the only way to get complimentary (albeit temporary) Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status. If you're looking for an easier path to Marriott elite status, consider these options:

It's also worth noting that the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card provides Marriott Platinum Elite status (the tier above Gold) automatically. While the card does have a hefty $650 annual fee (Rates & Fees), consider that you likely wouldn't spend less than that for the required nights to earn this status each year.

Our Take

Getting complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status with the Sapphire Reserve is a great deal, even if it's only for three months. Better yet, it's easy to extend your status through February 2028 by completing just three paid nights before your trial ends.

If you're interested, just don't forget to register before September 30, 2026.
