Fell short of the tier of IHG status you wanted last year? IHG has just the offer for you. IHG One Rewards just launched a fast track to Diamond Elite status for members who recently dropped down to Platinum Elite. Members can get back to Diamond Elite after completing just 8 nights by March 8, 2026.

On top of that, select members can register for double Elite Night Credit promotions, which let you earn 2X qualifying nights on eligible stays through March 31, 2026.

Here’s a closer look at the details — and how to try to register if you didn’t get an email.

[Expired] Fast Track Back to IHG Diamond Elite

Some targeted IHG One Rewards members received an offer to fast-track their way to Diamond Elite status with just a fraction of the usual stay requirements. You may have received the offer by email. If not, you can try registering through this link.

Once registered, you can earn Diamond Elite status with just 8 qualifying nights, as long as you complete the stays between January 22 and March 8, 2026. Status is then valid through the end of 2027.

Typically, Diamond Elite requires 70 elite nights, so this fast track is a great way to boost your status with IHG. If you're missing your Diamond Elite benefits, this is an easy way to get them back.

If you're not sure if it's really worth earning your way back to Diamond, keep in mind that IHG Platinum Elite offers some excellent benefits of its own. Key perks available to IHG Platinum Elite members include reward night discounts and late checkout (subject to availability), plus a complimentary room upgrade and early check-in (both subject to availability).

IHG will let you spend your way to Diamond Elite

Another way to earn your way back to Diamond Elite is to spend your way there.

The only way to get Diamond Elite status with a credit card is by spending $40,000 annually with the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card (Rates & Fees) or IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card (Rates & Fees). Otherwise, you can get IHG Platinum Elite status just by holding an IHG Premier-branded credit card.

Our Take

As we’ve seen many times before, IHG is sending out targeted offers for elite status. This time, one offers a fast track to Diamond Elite for those who recently dropped down to Platinum Elite. If you’re targeted and want to get back to Diamond Elite status through 2027, register for this promotion to help you get there.

The other offers double elite nights up to 10 bonus elite nights — which can be useful no matter which tier of IHG elite status you're aiming for this year.

I finally succeeded in registration. You need your membership number & promotion code 20536!!

  • intrepid says:

This doesn’t make sense. I could not sign up online. It said to call. I did. The person on the phone tells me the offer is ONLY good for people living in Greater China!

Does this sound right? I don’t see that noted anywhere on this offer page.

Also, I was Diamond. That was supposed to run out 12/31/2022. Everywhere I look still shows I have Diamond status. I was expecting it to run out so that’s why I was looking to move up via the Platinum Elite challenge.

Also, the guy told me when they DO downgrade me, it is only “one level at a time” so I’ll still be Platinum Elite anyway. Is this correct?

    • JT Genter says:

We haven’t heard of IHG doing a “soft landing”, but that could be new to the new program. Let me know if that ends up happening!

If you’re still showing as a Diamond Elite, you probably won’t be able to register for a fast track to Platinum Elite. I’d just recommend checking back (or have AwardWallet monitor your IHG account for status changes). Then, it you are downgraded, see if you can register for the promotion then.

  • Jonny says:

Is this promotion only for people in the USA?

    • JT Genter says:

It doesn’t seem so. No geographic restrictions are noted in the terms and conditions. It simply states: “To participate in the “Fast Track to Elite Status” promotion (“Promotion”), an individual must be an IHG One Rewards member and must register for the Promotion under their member number.”

  • daewoo says:

what is promo code? is it target promo?

  • Nikos says:

I registered for the fast track elite offer but after my recent stay it stills mention STATUS: not started. The fact that I registered for the Diamond elite offer as well has anything to do with that?

  • Jaylen says:

    What’s the promotion code?

  • DP says:

Any cheap IHG hotels for mattress run in US?

  • Tom says:

Wouldn’t it be easier to just go “straight to Diamond”? Why waste time?

  • KareK says:

I agree this is weird wording for the goal but why not register. Even in the fine print it says that even if there is success in registering you still may not qualify to get the bonuses? so odd, but can’t hurt to just put it in and see if you can get a higher status.

  • Jimbo says:

Anyone know of any IHG properties within a 4-5hr flight from the UK within the $30-$50 price range which could be interesting for a two week stay ?!

Got 4 trips planned already this year none in IHG properties unfortunately but fancy that Diamond status for next year.
