Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt is another vacation home booking platform, similar to Marriot Homes & Villas, but how does it compare? Here's a basic review of the platform, and how World of Hyatt members can earn and redeem their points for Homes &
Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt
World of Hyatt Hyatt announced Homes & Hideaways in September 2023 and launched the platform the following month, finally offering the ability to earn and redeem points on these stays. Full homes are available to rent on the platform, just like Airbnb, Vacasa, and Vrbo, not to mention other hotel platforms like Marriott Homes & Villas. The properties are normally managed by local companies, not by World of Hyatt. Thus, experiences can vary.
You can search for and book properties at hyatt-homes-and-hideaways.com.

Several weeks after launch, only a handful of states have properties available: California, Oregon, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Wisconsin, Alabama, Tennessee, West Virginia, New York, North Carolina, and Florida. In these states, rentals seem to be only in specific locations, such as near national parks or key vacation spots. Many properties are also quite large, sleeping 6, 8, or even 12 people.
Originally, the platform was not user-friendly, and properties were hard to find. However, now a “search when I move the map” feature is available. Unfortunately, there still aren't that many properties, and many are already booked around popular dates. Unfortunately, once you're on the search page, there's no quick way to change locations without starting the search over from the home page.
Homes & Hideaways is not part of Brand Explorer, and Hyatt stated there are no plans to add the new brand at this time. However, World of Hyatt members can take advantage of the Hyatt and American Airlines joint benefits to enjoy extra perks on these stays.
World of Hyatt Rewards at Homes & Hideaways Properties
What's good about Homes & Hideaways is you can earn World of Hyatt points and stay credits on the rentals. As usual, World of Hyatt members earn 5 points per dollar spent on Homes & Hideaways rentals. Members also earn stay credits for each night of the stay, helping them earn elite status with Hyatt.
Furthermore, cardholders with The World of Hyatt Credit Card (Rates & Fees) or World of Hyatt Business Credit Card (Rates & Fees) earn an additional 4X points on Hyatt stays, including Homes & Hideaways stays. These cardholders would earn 9 points per dollar (or more, depending on their status tier) when paying for their stay with a Hyatt co-branded card, just like any other Hyatt hotel.
It's also possible to redeem Hyatt points for Homes & Hideaways properties. Most rentals are available at a rate of 1.1 to 1.2 cents per point. For instance, three nights in Sunriver, Oregon over Christmas would cost $2807.18 or 233,932 points. Similarly, three nights in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee would cost $2,567.65 or 213,971 points.
Compare that to the 2.19¢ per point AwardWallet users average on their Hyatt redemptions. That means Homes & Hideaways redemptions offer roughly half the value of what travelers normally get from Hyatt points.
Our Take
It seems every new hotel brand, especially the long-term stay ones, is accepted with a grain of salt. Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt is no different. Travelers need to see if they can find a better deal on another booking platform for the same property — or see if there's a better use of their points. There's also currently a very limited number of properties on Homes & Hideaways, each with a very limited number of available nights to book. As this expands, the value proposition may improve for travelers.
Travelers looking for a vacation home rental may be excited about the ability to earn and redeem Hyatt points through Homes & Hideaways. Those looking to redeem their Hyatt points for maximum value, however, might not be impressed.
What do you think about Hyatt's new Homes & Hideaways brand? Have you already booked a stay?
