If you want to earn World of Hyatt elite status this year, you could stay the minimum number of nights or rack up the necessary base points to earn it — but you don't necessarily have to. In fact, it's possible to qualify for Hyatt elite status without stepping foot on a Hyatt property.
Here are three ways to earn Hyatt elite status this year without booking and completing stays.

Hyatt’s Partnership With American Airlines
Hyatt and American Airlines have long had a partnership that offered reciprocal status matches, but this was overhauled at the beginning of 2025. While formal status matches are now a thing of the past, you can still parlay your American Airlines elite status into World of Hyatt elite status, but not without earning Loyalty Points.
- Hyatt Discoverist Status: Automatically unlocked at 100,000 AAdvantage Loyalty Points.
- Hyatt Explorist Status: Available via Loyalty Point Rewards as a choice. Unlockable at 175,000 Loyalty Points and again at 250,000 Loyalty Points if you didn't select it at the prior threshold.
Apply for a World of Hyatt Credit Card
Carrying a Hyatt co-branded credit card may be an easier way to earn (and keep) your World of Hyatt status. There are two World of Hyatt cards, both issued by Chase.
