JetBlue has been busy updating its elite status program over the last few years, including changes to the TrueBlue program that took place earlier in 2023. These introduced new tiers of elite status and new perks, many of which were well-received. Now, JetBlue has announced additional changes to its Mosaic status starting in 2024. Let's take a look at what's going on.

JetBlue Mosaic Changes for 2024

This news is unique in that it's almost entirely positive. Generally, when an airline makes adjustments to its loyalty program, it's at the detriment of the customer. However, these alterations are pretty good overall and include new perks for elite members.

Those with JetBlue Mosaic elite status enjoy some standard benefits, such as priority boarding and free checked bags. However, they also can choose additional perks from a designated list. Here are the existing Perks You Pick:

  • Founderscard Blue membership
  • Pet fee waiver
  • $99 statement credit on eligible JetBlue credit cards
  • 20-tile bonus
  • 15,000 bonus points
  • Mint Suite priority

These are already generous and can be very valuable, especially if you opt for something like the pet fee waiver. For 2024, JetBlue is introducing a new Perks You Pick and splitting another one into two:

In addition to the new Perks You Pick, JetBlue is also adding new benefits to those with Mosaic elite status:

  • All Mosaic members: Avis elite status (coming later in 2024)
  • Mosaic 3 and 4: Dedicated phone support
  • Mosaic 3 and 4: Apply Move to Mint certificates in advance
  • Mosaic 4: Gift Mosaic 1 status

So far, this all sounds pretty good, right? And it is, mostly. There's only one downside here: Starting in 2024, Move to Mint certificates are becoming dynamic and increasing in price.

While you'll be able to confirm your upgrade in advance, rather than 24 hours before departure (as is currently the case), you'll pay more for the option.

Through the end of 2023, you'll use one Move to Mint certificate (per segment) for most routes. The only exception to this is transatlantic routes, which cost two Move to Mint certificates. Starting on January 4, 2023, it'll cost between one and four certificates to upgrade your flights. That has the potential to be a pretty big devaluation since it can cost four times as much for a flight as it used to.

Bottom Line

JetBlue has been revamping its Mosaic loyalty program over the last few years, so it makes sense that it's continuing to do so. While these changes are generally positive, there is one big downside for those looking to upgrade their flights. Although you'll be able to confirm an upgrade in advance, the price to do so is becoming dynamic and increasing — and it could cost four times as much as in the past.
