Marriott Bonvoy has a lot of airline partners, but one partnership that goes a little deeper than most is with Emirates Skywards. The two programs offer reciprocal benefits through a program called Your World Rewards. And this partnership was recently extended and expanded.

Here’s what to know about the Your World Rewards program and how your Marriott and Emirates memberships can unlock perks with the other brand.

Overview of the Emirates Skywards and Marriott Bonvoy Partnership

The Marriott and Emirates Your World Rewards program offers reciprocal perks on both flights and hotel stays. To take advantage of the benefits, you’ll need to link your Emirates Skywards and Marriott Bonvoy accounts. Once that’s done, here’s a look at what you can expect.

Marriott benefits for Emirates Skywards members

Emirates Skywards Silver members earn 1X Skywards miles per dollar spent on eligible Marriott stays. You’ll still earn regular Marriott points as usual, making this a true airline and hotel double-dip opportunity.

You can earn Silver status by flying with Emirates or by holding the Emirates Skywards Rewards World Elite Mastercard®, which offers complimentary Silver status for the first year. After that, you’ll need to spend $20,000 each cardmember year to keep the benefit.

Skywards Gold members enjoy added perks at Marriott properties, including 4 p.m. late checkout (based on availability) and free Wi-Fi. You can also get Gold status through the Emirates Skywards Premium World Elite Mastercard®, which grants this status for the first year then reqiures $40,000 in annual spending to keep it.

It's worth noting that having Emirates elite status is more important than ever if you want to book Emirates’ famed First Class using miles. You’ll now need to be at least a Skywards Silver member to make these redemptions.

Emirates benefits for Marriott Bonvoy members

To take advantage of this partnership from the Marriott side, you’ll need Gold Elite status or higher. Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite, and Ambassador Elite members earn 3X Marriott Bonvoy® Points per dollar on eligible Emirates flights — in addition to the Skywards miles you'd normally earn.

Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite, and Ambassador Elite members also enjoy added airport perks when flying Emirates, including access to the business class check-in desk and priority boarding.

The easiest way to score these benefits is by getting the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card — which grants cardholders automatic Platinum Elite status.

Transfer Points Between Marriott and Emirates

All members, regardless of status, can convert Marriott points into Emirates Skywards miles. The transfer rate is 3 Marriott Bonvoy points to 1 Skywards mile, with a minimum transfer of 1,000 points. As with many Marriott airline partners, you’ll receive a 5,000-mile bonus when you transfer at least 60,000 Bonvoy points in a single transaction.

Additionally, you can also transfer Skywards miles to Marriott Bonvoy. The rate is 3 Skywards miles to 2 Bonvoy points — and you can transfer in increments of 3,000 miles. This is a neat benefit if you have a small balance of Skywards miles you're struggling to redeem.

Final Thoughts

There’s clearly change underway with Emirates’ transfer partners, but its relationship with Marriott Bonvoy is stronger than ever. While other transfer options are paused or about to be devalued, Marriott now represents one of the best ways to move a different loyalty currency into Emirates Skywards miles at a strong ratio. And if you hold status in either program, you’ll still enjoy double-dip earnings and added perks at higher elite levels.
