If you've read a few of our articles, you’ve probably noticed we generally advise against using Ultimate Rewards points for anything other than flights or hotel point transfers, as the value tends to be subpar. However, the introduction of unique redemption options like Sapphire Reserve Trips might change that. Not necessarily because of the value you get from the redemption, but because of the exclusivity of these experiences.
With Sapphire Reserve Trips, Chase curates travel packages you likely couldn’t recreate on your own by booking each component separately. That’s where the real added value of using your Ultimate Rewards points comes in.
Here’s what you need to know about these trips and which ones are available right now.

Celebrate Día De los Muertos in Oaxaca Through Sapphire Reserve Trips
Previous Sapphire Reserve Trips have included curated itineraries to Jaipur, India for Holi, Miami during Art Week, and London…for everything London has to offer…and more. The latest offering from Chase Travel is a curated trip for two to Oaxaca, Mexico, to celebrate Día de los Muertos.

The Oaxaca trip is built around this colorful celebration but offers something for everyone, including:
- A 4-night stay at a chic independent hotel, Pug Seal, exclusively booked out for Chase guests
- $100 property credit
- An evening at the graveyard where celebrations take place, with cocktails and dinner
- A visit to local artist Pantaleon Ruiz's studio in Teotitlán del Valle to experience traditional craftsmanship like weaving and alebrijes
- Access to Chase Travel Mercado with chef Edgar Rico for tacos and cocktails
- A visit to mezcal distillery Casa Silencio for a tour, tasting, and dinner with mariachi music
- Private guided walking tours of Oaxaca highlighting street food and architecture
- Dinners, transportation, and more

The trip will take place October 30 through November 2, during the Día de los Muertos celebrations. In the past, Chase Sapphire Reserve Trips have sold out within minutes of going live, so if this one interests you, be ready to jump on it quickly when it goes live on August 5, 2025. The link to do so is here.
How to Find Other Sapphire Reserve Trips
To book this and other Sapphire Reserve Trips, go to Chase's experience website and log in. Once the page loads, you'll see all the options available for booking.

Once you've found the trip — or any other experience available — that strikes your fancy, just add it to your cart. When you check out, you'll have to enter the travelers' names. After that, you will have the option to use your Chase Ultimate Rewards, or otherwise pay with your Chase Sapphire Reserve® (Rates & Fees). And you might want to opt for the latter as point redemptions are only at a rate of 1 cent per point.

Once you finish booking, you'll get an email with the confirmation and detailed itinerary.
Ways to Earn Ultimate Rewards
Prefer to redeem Ultimate Rewards points for this experience instead of paying cash? Here are a few ways to top off your account if you need more points:
- Personal Cards: These exclusive Sapphire Reserve experiences can only be booked if you hold the Sapphire Reserve, but there are several other Chase cards that earn Ultimate Rewards points. Cards like the Sapphire Reserve and Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (Rates & Fees) offer generous welcome bonuses and strong ongoing earn rates depending on your spending habits.
- Business Cards: Don’t overlook business credit cards as a way to maximize the points you can earn. For example, Chase has an excellent lineup of Ink-branded business cards that reward all kinds of purchases.
- Chase Travel Portal: Travel booked through Chase Travel allows you to earn bonus points on all of the spend on travel reservations. If you book travel through it regularly, your points balance will grow quicker.
- Chase Shopping Portal: Those that regularly shop online can benefit from using the Chase Shopping Portal to increase the points earned on all of their usual shopping.
- Referral Bonuses: Most Chase credit cards offer bonuses for referrals to friends and family. This can help you rack up a rather significant amount of additional points just by recommending the cards you enjoy the benefits of to people you care about.

Bottom Line
While it may not always be the most cost effective way to redeem your Chase Ultimate Rewards points, there are other factors worth considering. If a trip or experience is something I wouldn’t otherwise have access to without points, I’m more than willing to trade frugality for something aspirational.
Chase Travel seems to be doing a great job offering elevated experiences that blend cultural relevance with just the right amount of luxury, which is exactly the kind of travel I usually seek out.
If you have a solid stash of Ultimate Rewards, Sapphire Reserve Trips are definitely worth keeping an eye on. The Oaxaca trip in particular will go on sale August 5, 2025.
