IHG Reduces Value of Free Night Certificate by Sam Helmy April 4, 2018 35 IHG has reduced the value of its annual free night certificate earned by being an IHG® Rewards Select Credit Card cardmember. Certificates issued as of May 1, 2018, can only be redeemed at properties that have standard award nights priced at 40,000 points or less. Category 8 or higher properties will no longer be eligible for redemption with the free night certificate.

IHG Adds 70,000-Point Per Night Redemption Reward Level by Sam Helmy January 3, 2018 45 IHG has brought in 2018 just like it did 2017, with adjustments to its award chart. 2018 adjustments impact hundreds of properties across the world, with most increasing in cost by 5,000 to 10,000 points. In addition to adjusting the rates at properties, the more significant impact is that IHG has added an additional level, increasing the maximum cost per night at some of its properties from 60,000 points per night to 70,000 points per night.

You will be able to earn IHG points when you make a reservation with either service. The new partnership with OpenTable is live in the US and will expand to the UK and Australia by the end of 2017.
IHG Launches New Hotel Brand – avid™ hotels by Sam Helmy September 23, 2017 25 IHG has launched a new midscale hotel brand, which will be called Avid hotels. Construction of the first properties is expected to start early in 2018, and the company aims to open the first properties in early 2019. The new brand will be made of midscale properties, which will be priced at $10-$15 per night less than IHG’s Holiday Inn Express Brand.
