Heads up, business owners: American Express just launched a new $300 ChatGPT credit for select business credit cards. This is great news for any small business owner who already pays for a ChatGPT Business premium plan… and it's another sign that AI is becoming so deeply integrated into our day-to-day lives.
Here's what to know about the new ChatGPT statement credit, and whether these cards are worth applying for.
What To Know About the New Amex ChatGPT Credit
Cardholders of The Business Platinum Card® from American Express and the American Express® Business Gold Card now have access to up to $300 in statement credits per calendar year on U.S. purchases of ChatGPT Business. Enrollment is required.
Somewhat surprisingly, this new benefit isn't being paired with an annual fee increase on either card. Cardholders are simply getting up to $300 more in value each year.
Also notable is that this credit isn't split into monthly increments. That means cardholders don't have to opt for a monthly plan; instead, you can get $300 back on an annual plan.
That's helpful, as a ChatGPT Business plan is cheaper when billed annually (on a per-user per-month basis). Business ChatGPT & Codex plan costs $20 per user per month when billed annually, or $25 per user per month when billed monthly. If you have a large team, an extra $5 per person per month adds up to a large difference.
ChatGPT Business requires at least two users, so you'll still need to pay out-of-pocket if you opt for an annual plan.
Say you have a team of five people, you'll pay $1,200 per year on your ChatGPT Business plan when billed annually. $300 is definitely a nice discount, but it's still an investment to carefully consider.
Other Credits Available on Amex Business Cards
The Amex Business Gold and Business Platinum Card are already fantastic choices for business owners. The ChatGPT credit is a nice addition that adds up to $300 in value.
If you currently pay for ChatGPT Business and don't already have the Amex Business Gold, this new $300 credit offsets a large majority of the $375 annual fee (Rates & Fees).

Bottom Line
More value from your existing cards is great. If you already subscribe to a ChatGPT Business plan, you can get up to $300 per year back as a statement credit if you are a cardholder of the Amex Business Gold or Business Platinum Card. However, assuming you are registering more than one member, you'll still need to pay for the remainder of your membership. Make sure ChatGPT is worth the investment.
