Have you ever found the perfect award itinerary but didn't have enough points to book it yet? The good news is that you likely have several options to top up your loyalty account. However, timing is crucial when booking award availability. You'll want to book the award before someone else swoops in and snags it. And unfortunately, not all point transfers or miles purchases post instantly.
What if there was a way to track your loyalty point accounts and be alerted the moment the transferred or purchased miles arrived? Well, that's exactly the feature we built: Balance Watch.
AwardWallet users can use Balance Watch to monitor a specific loyalty account for changes. These data points are what power our transfer times and purchase times pages.
We've covered everything you need to know about Balance Watch below. If you prefer video format, you can check out this video from our friend Ernest from TripAstute.
When to Use Balance Watch
AwardWallet attempts to check your account balances every few days, but in some cases, these background updates don’t happen on a consistent schedule. To get the most up-to-date information, you can click the “update all” button at the top of your list of accounts.
The normal update process is perfectly fine for most situations, but there are times when you want to know about a balance change right away. Once you find an itinerary you want to book, it can be a race against time to confirm your plans before award availability disappears. If you don't have enough points in your account, you may need to purchase points or transfer them from a program like Chase, Amex, Citi, Capital One, or Marriott.
Unfortunately, not all point transfers or miles purchases happen instantly. While you're waiting for the transaction to process, anyone else can potentially book the same flight or hotel, and leave you having to replan your trip. Although we can't make your points post faster, we created Balance Watch to make sure you can book as soon as they do.

How AwardWallet Balance Watch Works
Balance Watch will monitor a loyalty account to let you know as soon as your points arrive. Once activated, AwardWallet will check your balance up to twenty-four times per day and send you a desktop, mobile, and email notification as soon as a change is detected.

Balance Watch is an AwardWallet Plus feature, so you'll need to upgrade your account if you're currently using the free version. Each paid AwardWallet Plus subscription comes with one Balance Watch credit included, and you can purchase additional credits whenever you need to monitor for a balance change.
How to Activate Balance Watch
1. Before you activate Balance Watch, make sure the account you plan to monitor is updating without errors and you have enabled your preferred notification methods for rewards activity. You can update your AwardWallet notification settings here.

2. To activate Balance Watch, head to your list of accounts and click the edit button by the account you want to monitor. Please note that our example is for transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards to Marriott Rewards. Make sure to enable Balance Watch on the account where the points will post (and not the account where the transfer originates).

3. Scroll down to the Balance Watch section and choose your options. When you select the source of the incoming points and the time you started the transaction, you'll be helping us collect data to share with the AwardWallet community.
4. Check the box to acknowledge the terms and click “Update Account”
5. On your list of accounts, you'll see that monitoring is active.
6. Once your points post, you'll get a desktop, mobile, and email notification
Limitations
The biggest limitation of Balance Watch is that AwardWallet needs to be able to update an account in the background to enable the feature. That eliminates the ability to track accounts that require two-factor authentication or CAPTCHA to log in. Unfortunately, the list of excluded programs has grown much longer over the past few years.
Still, there's a long list of loyalty programs you can track through Balance Watch. Here's just a partial list of programs you can track:
- Amex Membership Rewards
- Capital One Rewards
- Alaska Atmos Rewards
- JetBlue TrueBlue
- Korean Air SkyPass
- Qantas Frequent Flyer
- Singapore KrisFlyer
- IHG One Rewards
- Expedia One Key
- Enterprise Plus
- National Emerald Club
Also, Balance Watch should be used for keeping track of inbound points that are expected in the next few days. For example, it could take several weeks for a credit card signup bonus to post. In this type of situation, we recommend using the “update all” button at the top of your account list to get the most up-to-date information.
AwardWallet Balance Watch Cost
AwardWallet Plus subscribers receive one Balance Watch credit per membership year. Beyond this free credit, you'll need to buy Balance Watch credits here.
Balance Watch credits can be bought in increments of 1, 3, 5, and 10 credits — with the cost per credit decreasing as you buy more:
- $5 for 1 credit
- $10 for 3 credits ($3.33 each)
- $15 for 5 credits ($3 each)
- $25 for 10 credits ($2.50 each)
Plus, upgrading your account supports ongoing development efforts that improve both the free and paid versions of AwardWallet. Admittedly, we're a bit biased, but AwardWallet Plus comes with a ton of great features like unlimited point-expiration tracking, enhanced account data, and spending analysis to help you earn more points with your everyday purchases.
Final Thoughts
When award space is limited and timing matters, every minute counts. Balance Watch takes the guesswork out of waiting — letting you know the instant your transferred or purchased miles post so you can book before availability disappears.
It’s one of those powerful tools that can make a real difference for points and miles enthusiasts. Whether you’re chasing a dream business class seat or just trying to lock in a hotel before rates spike, Balance Watch ensures you’re ready to act the moment your points arrive.

I am very excited to see the feature “Balance Watch”. This was news to me and I am going to sign-up for it now. It’s always nice to know when points are added to an account, for me its American Airlines Advantage account. Thank you AwardWallet for continuing to add new features.
Agree with a lot of comments on this blog article – a very useful feature to know. Will certainly check it out if there is a need to transfer points / miles in the future. Thanks!
This looks like a great feature to have! I’m new to this and haven’t had to purchase or transfer points yet, but I’m grateful for the explanation and the heads up that there could be complications when I’m ready!
Balance Watch looks like a great feature. Thanks for the explanation of how to use it.
This feature sounds wonderful. I can relate to the awkward tension where one has to wait for “the system” to accomplish something with an account, while the price of the desired purchase could go up at any moment.
Just found out about this website. Great job!
Love your service. Keep it up!
Such a wondeful feature! I’ll use this magnificent tool .
Nice feature. Definitely will use it.
Wow! Great feature. Will have to take advantage when awaiting transfers
Perfect Solution!!! Thank you for this help on managing this type of information!
Thanks, this could be really handy1
It’s a valuable tool to manage our accounts. Absolutely important these warnings.
This is very useful. Thanks for adding this feature.
Very helpful new feature! Thanks for continuing to provide us with the best tools possible.
Buying the membership is good for those who have at least 5+ accounts to monitor through AW.
Great new feature to have on standby when you really need it . Thank you
I’m assuming this is actually just an email that is sent to you?
I mean, that’s cool- but somehow I thought it was a mobile popup or something.
You receive mobile notifications, desktop notifications, and email reminders.
thats a cool new feature. thanks for adding it!
this is really a cool resource, I think it will be very useful!
This is a great feature to add!
That is a good feature to have. Thank you.
This is a very well thought out and useful addition to your portfolio of features. I look forward to activating it.
This great to know. Thanks
This is so helpful! Great feature!
Very exciting about this new feature! Can’t wait to try it out!
This is awesome! Thank you.
Amazing! This is what I was looking for.
Thanks so much for continuing to add features!
This is a great feature! I’ll be activating it is soon!
This is a lifesaver, especially since Marriott Rewards can take quite a while to transfer!
This helps a lot!
This is a neat feature and something to consider using. Thanks for all the additional info about transfer times and such.
Wow this is a great update! Really with all my accounts out there AwardWallet Plus has been a life saver! I understand that people would love not to have an extra charge, but if points mean that much to you then you wouldn’t be here on the site and ya’ll just need to make the leap.
This just makes Plus more worth it. Keep in mind life gets in the way (or you’re easily distracted l like me) and you are off doing something else then you get a notification on your watch, Alexa, Google, etc that you have an update on your computer. Then that will make you remember that you’re waiting for points to get into your United account, etc and jump back on to make sure you’re getting your flights.
Nice perk when expecting points or miles for immediate use.
Handy feature, thank you.
thats actually a pretty awesome and useful feature i would love
I like this new feature and your explanation. I will try it out.
This looks a great new feature! Can’t wait to give it a try
Oh, nice! This is a very good feature. Thank you for the great joob, guys.
Thanks Award Wallet for consistently updating and improving your product!
Great feature! It would have been very useful on transfers to ANA last week.
GREAT Feature!
This is a great new feature and will be really helpful when I am waiting for points to post – I won’t have to keep logging into accounts to see if they are there!
Wow, good example of how technology can be applied to make life both easier and more dependable! Thanks.
Thank you for adding a number of quality, new features lately! But, I do very much look forward to the day when AW can “…make your points post faster!” 🙂
I wish you could buy these in a pack, 5 bucks each time will add up!
this is a very good feature and an enhancement for awardwallet. good work
Awardwallet is the best! Get’s better and better!
Very useful feature, thanks!
Many thinks for adding addition products and perks to a valuable service. Very much appreciated, even if it is sparingly used.
Sounds interesting, thanks guys
Very useful in the right circumstances, thanks for this!
Thanks, guys! What would I do without you?
Interesting…I currently have an AwardWallet Plus subscription, and I need to check this one out.
Thanks.
This is awesome!
That’s a really cool feature. I’m always hesitant to transfer to any programs that aren’t instant though. I’d hate for availability to disappear in 48 hours.
Thank you for this new feature. This is a great idea.
Reading the headline I was legitimately wondering if it was April 1.
Fantastic upgrade to an already terrific platform. From past experience spending days hitting the refresh button on an account, I know I will likely make us of this new feature of AW in future.
Any chance of Korean Air Skypass added soon?
This is currently available for tracking points moved to Korean Skypass. If you have AwardWallet Plus, you should see a checkbox to enable Balance Watch when you edit your Skypass account in AwardWallet.
Thanks for adding this feature. I could have used it following a transfer of my MR points last week- would have saved me refreshing the website every few minutes to grab the seats I wanted 🙂
Sorry we missed it! You can give that refresh button a rest next time 🙂
Cool new feature!
Great new feature. Good idea!
great feature! I cannot afford awardwallet premium but this is neato!
I can’t justify paying for premium. My travel habits just don’t warrant it.
excellent!! Thanks for adding new stuff!
That’s a cool new idea!
Awsome work as normal, activating it now!
Interesting feature! Could be really helpful!
Looks like a nice feature. Is there a way to control how often the account is checked? Also what is the cost of the credits?
Hey Murtuza, you can buy additional credits here. The price goes down as you purchase more, but the range is $2.50-5.00. Right now, there isn’t a way to control how often the account is checked—we check hourly until the expected points arrive.
great new feature
This huge!!! I look forward to all of the benefits that continue to reward us. I can’t imagine being in this hobby without AW
Thanks Michael!
This is a lifesaver, especially since Marriott Rewards can take quite a while to transfer!
This made me giggle. People really need to be “warned” when points post?
We’re hoping this will help folks confirm hard-to-book award tickets as quickly as possible without having to refresh their account balance manually. 🙂
Makes perfect sense to me. If you transfer miles and it takes two days to post, you’re now in a race against the clock to book that ticket so it doesn’t disappear. Quite a nifty feature to not sit and refresh constantly.
I appreciate that because there are times when that timing is pretty important.
This is definitely an enhancement that could prove very valuable. Thanks for listening to your reader feedback and acting on it.
Thank you for this good info!
