Wells Fargo Rewards has become a much more useful program for travelers, thanks to the addition of transfer partners and a travel portal that lets cardholders redeem points for flights, hotels, rental cars, activities, and more.
The Wells Fargo travel portal provides an easy option to redeem your points. Instead of learning award charts or searching for elusive partner availability, you can use Wells Fargo points much like cash toward eligible travel bookings. But that simplicity comes with a trade-off.
Here’s how the Wells Fargo travel portal works, what you can book, and when it makes sense to use it instead of transferring your points.
What Is the Wells Fargo Travel Portal?
The Wells Fargo Rewards portal is an online booking platform that lets eligible Wells Fargo credit cardholders use their rewards or pay with cash to book travel. You can book flights, hotels, rental cars, vacation packages, and activities all in one place.
The portal makes using your rewards straightforward, but convenience doesn't always mean you're getting the best deal. Prices and availability can differ from what you'll find when booking directly with an airline, hotel, or other travel provider, so it's always worth comparing before you book.
How Much Are Wells Fargo Points Worth?
Using the Wells Fargo Rewards portal to book your travel couldn't be easier, and you certainly won't need an algebra refresher to calculate how much your points are worth. When redeemed through the portal, the value is fixed, and each point will equal 1 cent.
That means a $500 flight would cost 50,000 points, whether you're booking airfare, a hotel, a rental car, or another eligible travel purchase through the portal. The tradeoff for that simplicity is that you won't have an opportunity to squeeze more value from each point the way you can with transfer partners.
Why Use the Wells Fargo Travel Portal?
Transferring your Wells Fargo points to an airline or hotel loyalty program and redeeming them for award flights or hotel stays can often give you more value than booking through a credit card travel portal. But each of those programs comes with plenty of caveats, small print, blackout dates, and otherwise convoluted rules that take some time to learn.
That's where the Wells Fargo travel portal has an advantage: simplicity. You can book just about any travel-related activity from the same platform, using your earned rewards without becoming an expert.
It's worth noting that most bookings done through the Wells Fargo Rewards portal will be considered third-party. This generally renders those reservations ineligible to earn most other rewards directly with hotels, rental cars, and other loyalty programs.

How To Use the Wells Fargo Travel Portal
To get started, head to the Wells Fargo website and find your rewards account listed alongside your other accounts. You can also navigate to the Wells Fargo Rewards portal directly (and bookmark the page for easy access).
Once there, you'll see your available rewards balance and be given the chance to either link your loyalty programs or see all other redemption options.
Once the portal loads, click on “Use Rewards,” then select “Travel” from the menu.
Clicking “Book Travel” will take you to Wells Fargo's travel portal. If you have more than one card that earns Wells Fargo Rewards, you'll need to select which one you'd like to use to access the portal.
How To Book Flights in the Wells Fargo Travel Portal
Booking flights through the Wells Fargo portal works much like other online booking platforms. Select “Flights” from the menu, then enter the departure and destination airports, travel dates, number of passengers, and whether you're booking a round-trip, one-way, or a multi-city booking. Then click “Search.”
Once the results load, you can narrow your options using filters for airline, number of stops, fare class, price, and more.
After you've found the flight you want, click “Select” to review the itinerary and price breakdown. If everything looks right, click “Proceed to checkout.”
You'll then enter all passenger and payment details for your reservation. You can pay with your credit card, redeem reward points, or use a combination of both. If you're using points, you can adjust how many you'd like to redeem and pay the remaining balance with your card.
Once you've completed all required fields, click on “Complete reservation.” You'll then receive a confirmation as well as an email with your reservation details.
The portal offers access to more than 500 airlines, including Southwest, which isn't accessible to many other portals. Along the process, it's quite easy to understand the value of your points as all results will display both the cash cost of your flights as well as the points value. Prices are inclusive of fare, taxes, and any fees — and you can use your points to pay for the full total.
How To Book Hotels in the Wells Fargo Travel Portal
Searching for your next hotel stay through the Wells Fargo travel portal is equally easy. Just enter your travel dates and number of guests, then search by destination or hotel. Once the results load, you can use filters to narrow down your options.
Once you've found a property, click “Select hotel” to see the available room types and rates. Prices are shown in both cash and points, and you may see both refundable and non-refundable options. Click “Book now” to continue with your reservation.
Next, review the hotel details and price breakdown before clicking “Proceed to checkout.” From there, enter the required guest and payment information. You can pay with a card, points, or a combination of both.
Some properties are listed as “Preferred Partner Hotels” and offer additional Virtuoso perks. These can include complimentary daily breakfast and free Wi-Fi, as well as room upgrades, early check-in, and late checkout when available.
Keep in mind that hotel bookings made through the Wells Fargo Rewards portal are third-party reservations. You're unlikely to earn any points, stay credits for status qualification, or have your hotel status recognized during your stay. This is especially worth considering if you're after hotel elite status.
How To Book Rental Cars in the Wells Fargo Travel Portal
To book rental cars, just hit the “Cars” tab and enter pickup and drop-off locations, dates, and times. Then click “Search.”
Your options will be displayed and you can use filters to narrow down the results. Once you've found an option you like, click “Select car” to review your reservation details and price breakdown.
If it all looks good, click “Book now” and enter the required driver and payment information. Then click “Complete reservation” to finish your booking. You'll receive an onscreen confirmation as well as an email with your reservation details.
If you have elite status with a rental car program, keep in mind that your usual benefits may not apply when booking through the Wells Fargo travel portal.
How To Book Activities in the Wells Fargo Travel Portal
To book an activity, select the “Activities” tab, enter your destination, dates, and number of guests, then click “Search.”
All your results will be displayed, and this can include anything from theater shows and transportation packages to workout classes, walking tours, and even luggage storage services, among many others. The Wells Fargo travel portal offers some filters to slice and dice your results, which comes in handy when trying to sort out all of your options.
Once you've found the activity that strikes your fancy, click “Select activity.” Depending on the activity, you may need to choose a time or provide additional details before clicking “Book now.”
Finally, review the price breakdown and reservation details, fill out all required information, and select how you'd like to check out. Pay with credit card, points, or a mix of both, then click “Complete reservation.” You'll get a confirmation onscreen as well as by email.
Maximizing Wells Fargo Points
Redeeming Wells Fargo Rewards through the portal is straightforward. What the portal offers in convenience, it lacks in value optimization. There is no way to squeeze more value from those points.
Instead, consider transferring your rewards to Wells Fargo travel partners. This is the best way to stretch the value of your Wells Fargo points as much as possible. While this is, in comparison, way more complicated than a straight-up point redemption through the portal, it generally is worth taking the extra steps for those aspirational redemptions that would be otherwise unattainable.

The Wells Fargo travel portal is great if you're looking to book flights and you can't find a good way to transfer your points to one of the Wells Fargo travel partners. Generally speaking, I would recommend booking hotels directly with the provider so you can earn hotel rewards and take advantage of any elite benefits, but there are plenty of destinations without hotels that participate in major loyalty programs.
