How to Maximize This Cathay Pacific Promotion

Here's how you can check all the boxes to earn all 5,700 bonus Asia Miles through the “Rewards in the Air” promotion.

Missions 5 and 6

Let’s start with the easy wins. Missions five and six earn a quick 200 Asia Miles with just a few clicks and opt-ins. That’s free miles for minimal effort.

Plus, this could also be a roundabout way to reset the 18-month expiration clock if you have miles sitting idle.

Mission 2

Mission two requires completing a miles-earning or redemption transaction in two different categories: Flights, Shopping, Holidays, Dining, Payment, or Wellness. This should be fairly easy to knock out.

Cathay’s shopping portal includes merchants like Apple and Klook, and a purchase there should satisfy the Shopping category. Dining or flight activity could also work if the timing lines up with your travel plans.

It also appears that transfers to Cathay from bank partners like Bilt Rewards, American Express, Citi, and Capital One should trigger the Payment category. Spending on the Cathay Pacific World Elite Mastercard should do the same. That makes the 1,000 bonus miles from mission pretty attainable.

Missions 3 and 4

Missions three and four are the most lucrative, at 2,000 bonus miles each, but they require higher levels of earning or spending.

For mission three, earning 20,000 miles could come from paid flights, booking hotels or rental cars through Cathay, spending on the Cathay World Elite Mastercard, or a combination of the categories mentioned above. Realistically, this mission will be easiest for travelers who already planned to fly Cathay Pacific or its partners in the next couple of months.

Mission four, which requires redeeming 15,000 miles or more, should be attainable, too. If you have travel plans before January 31, redeeming miles for a long-haul flight to Hong Kong or even a shorter route can get you there quickly.

For example, an American Airlines flight from New York (JFK) to Los Angeles (LAX) costs 15,000 miles. Booking this would satisfy the requirement and earn you 2,000 bonus miles.

Mission 1

Finally, let's not forget mission one. Any qualifying miles transaction completed for missions two through four also satisfies mission one. And this amounts to an easy 500 bonus miles.

Bottom Line

Loyalty programs are always coming up with quirky ways to drive member engagement, and Cathay Pacific’s “Rewards in the Air” promotion fits the bill. If you already plan to fly with Cathay or redeem miles before the promotion ends on January 31, 2026, these bonus miles should be somewhat easy to earn. Just be sure to register first.

Even if you’re just looking to pick up a few miles with minimal effort or reset your miles expiration clock, this promotion is still worth a quick look.
