United MileagePlus members can once again earn bonus miles per car rental with Avis and Budget when booking through MileagePlus Travel using relevant promo codes. These bonus miles stack with the up-to-1,250 base miles you can earn as a United elite status holder, plus the standing offer for up-to-35% off base rates. This promotion runs through October 31, 2026.
The number of bonus miles you can earn through this offer depends first on how long you keep your rental. It's broken down as follows:
- Rentals of 3-5 consecutive days: Earn 750 bonus miles.
- Rentals of 6+ consecutive days: Earn 1,500 bonus miles.
Members can earn a maximum of 1,500 bonus miles per rental, on top of base miles earned. Better yet, the terms and conditions don't restrict how many times you can earn this bonus, so you can potentially earn several thousand bonus miles by renting cars through October.
Stack this offer with base earnings for MileagePlus elite status members and United cardholders
The bonus United miles you can earn from this offer come on top of the usual miles you will earn on your car rental as a MileagePlus Premier member or a United cardholder. At most, you can earn up to 1,250 bonus miles per rental thanks to your elite status or United credit card. These don't stack, meaning you won't earn extra miles as an elite status member using a United card.

- The 30% Budget discount or 35% Avis discount applies to the base rate only.

- A maximum of 1,500 bonus miles can be earned per rental in addition to base miles earned on the rental — plus what you earn as a MileagePlus elite status holder or United credit card holder.
- For Avis rentals, the offer is only available at participating airport and off-airport locations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and St. Maarten.
- For Budget rentals, the offer is only available at participating airport and off-airport locations in the U.S., Canada, EMEA, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Colombia, St. Maarten, and Costa Rica.
- Only paid rentals earn bonus miles, not those reserved with points or miles.
- Members will receive 500 miles at the end of their rental, any bonus miles from elite status or a United credit card within 5 business days, and the bonus miles from this promotion within eight weeks of completing eligible rentals.
Our Take
This is a nice little promotion to earn some bonus United miles with Avis and Budget car rentals through October 31, 2026. While you might not rent a car frequently enough to earn a free flight from this promotion, it's a nice way to boost your MileagePlus balance ahead of an upcoming redemption.
