Shhh. Don’t tell anyone, but Wells Fargo appears to have quietly added a new and exciting airline as a transfer partner.
Wells Fargo has been slowly but surely been increasing their transfer partner list in the past couple years. The last partner the bank confirmed added was Wyndham Rewards this past April.
The Wells Fargo partner list includes seven airline partners and two hotel programs:
- Aer Lingus AerClub
- Air France/KLM Flying Blue
- Avianca LifeMiles
- British Airways Club
- Iberia Plus
- JetBlue TrueBlue
- Virgin Atlantic Flying Club / Virgin Red
- Choice Privileges
- Wyndham Rewards
Wells Fargo Adds Cathay Pacific Asia Miles as Transfer Partner
But as of this moment, if you log into your Wells Fargo account, you will notice a new entrant to that list: Cathay Pacific. One of my absolute favorite airlines to fly, with some of the most exquisite airport lounge offerings around — including a new lounge opening in JFK this year.
Information displayed on this site shows the transfer rate as one-to-one, which is great news.

Just like with other Wells Fargo partners, before initiating a points transfer, you will need to connect your accounts. Do make sure the spelling of your name matches on both Wells Fargo and Cathay Pacific, otherwise it may result in errors preventing you from completing a successful transfer.

Once accounts are connected, you will be able to push the transfer through. As per the Wells Fargo transfer website “transfers are normally immediate, but please allow up to 72 hours for the transfer to be completed.” We do not as of yet have reliable information as to how quickly these transfer are being processed, but once AwardWallet users start linking their accounts and transferring their points, we will have actual data in our transfer times tool.
How to Earn Wells Fargo Rewards Points
There are a couple of Wells Fargo cards that can help you directly rack up rewards that you can transfer to all these partners, including recently added Cathay Pacific Asia Miles. The Wells Fargo Autograph® Card(Rates & Fees) and the Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Card(Rates & Fees). Both are phenomenal cards for travelers since they let you earn copious rewards on travel purchases.

- 3x on travel – including airfare, hotels, car rentals, timeshares, cruises, and more
- 3x on transit – including parking, tolls, subways, ride shares, railways, ferries, and more
- 3x on dining – including dining in, take-out, catering, delivery and more
- 3x at gas stations – including gas stations and electric vehicle charging stations
- 3x on phone plans – including landline providers and cell phones
- 3x on streaming services
- 1x on other purchases

$95Rates & Fees
- 5X points per $1 spent with hotels
- 4X points per $1 spent with airlines
- 3X points per $1 spent on other travel and restaurants
- 1X points per $1 spent on other purchases
In addition, you can pair one of these points-earning cards with a cash-back card to boost your balance. For example, you can combine rewards from the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card (Rates & Fees) or the Wells Fargo Attune℠ Card and convert them into transferable rewards.

- Earn unlimited 2% cash rewards on purchases

$0
- 4% cash rewards on self-care purchases (including beauty and barber shops, gym memberships and fitness studios, health and beauty spas, and massage parlors)
- 4% cash rewards on sports, recreation, and entertainment purchases
- 4% cash rewards on planet-friendly purchases (including EV charging stations, riding public transportation, and purchasing select second hand and vintage)
Bottom Line
More transfer partners are always better, and seeing Asia Miles from Cathay Pacific added to Wells Fargo repertoire is great news. Wells Fargo has been slow to add transfer partners so to see them growing two partners in less than a month is a very welcome sign. Here's to hoping it's a sign of more partners to come in the near future.

Just logged in and checked, yes Cathay transfers are live! You reported not too long ago that Cathay is planning to devalue transfer ratios, which if that still happens at other banks then Wells Fargo Rewards will be a superior program for Cathay redemptions, alongside for booking Wyndham or Choice hotels at your destination.
There are actually a couple other major options for earning Wells Fargo points besides the Autograph family of cards. First, I just transferred my Wells Fargo Attune Mastercard cash back balance to my Autograph cards. $89 became 8900 points. Those points from 4% cash back from massages at spas, in addition to other lifestyle related 4% categories. Second, Wells Fargo Active Cash Visa earns 2% cash back all transactions that can also be converted to Autograph points, making Active Cash Visa a potential alternative to Capital One Venture and Venture X, and Citi Double Cash Visa.
