Ahead of the World Cup, T-Mobile is getting into the eSIM game. Starting May 18, T-Mobile will begin offering a Prepaid U.S. Pass eSIM designed for international tourists. The eSIM will be affordable and easy to install, making it perfect for your trip to North America this summer. Here's everything to know.

T-Mobile To Offer a Prepaid eSIM for North American Travel

Each T-Mobile Prepaid U.S. Pass Plan offers unlimited talk, text, and 5G data in the U.S., 50 GB of premium data, and 5 GB of 5G data in Canada and Mexico. However, the plans differ in length and amount of high-speed hotspot data:

  • The 7-Day Pass costs $25 and offers 14 GB of high-speed hotspot data.
  • The 10-Day Pass costs $30 and comes with 20 GB of high-speed hotspot data.
  • The 14-Day Pass costs $35 and comes with 28 GB of high-speed hotspot data.
  • The 30-Day Pass costs $50 with 50 GB of high-speed hotspot data.

As you can see, your cost per day decreases with each subsequent plan. This is a fantastic deal for anyone traveling to North America for the World Cup this summer who wants reliable data. If you work remotely, having high-speed hotspot data can be a life job saver.

How Does the T-Mobile eSIM Compare to Competitors?

You can also get an eSIM plan through Verizon, one of T-Mobile's biggest competitors. Plus, two of our favorite eSIM companies — Airalo and GigSky — offer plans for North America. Here's how much they cost and how they differ.

Visible by Verizon

Just like T-Mobile, Verizon is offering a new eSIM option specifically for the World Cup. You can preorder the new Visible by Verizon eSIM Travel Pass through June 10, 2026, to save $10 on your plan.

You'll gain access to Verizon's 5G network, enjoy unlimited talking and texting in North America, and have unlimited texting to over 200 countries. However, what sets Verizon apart from T-Mobile is the ability to call internationally to 85+ countries with each plan.

Here's how much you'll spend:

  • The 7-Day Pass costs $25 and includes 90 minutes of international calling.
  • The 14-Day Pass costs $35 and includes 180 minutes of international calling.
  • The 30-Day Pass costs $45 and includes 300 minutes of international calling.
  • The 45-Day Pass costs $55 and includes 500 minutes of international calling.

Airalo

If you want to call and text, you'll need to purchase a U.S. eSIM from Airalo. Although the company offers a North America eSIM, regional plans only offer data.

The cost of your plan will depend on how much data, calling, and texting you want. For instance:

  • 7-day plan with 3 GB of data, 30 minutes of calling, and 30 SMS messages costs $12
  • 30-day plan with 50 GB of data, 500 minutes of calling, and 500 SMS messages costs $59

Or you can get 10 GB of data access (no calling or SMS messaging) throughout North America for just $46.

GigSky

GigSky is a data-only service, so you won't find any plans that include calling. However, you can get unlimited data in North America for $31.19 for 7 days, $45.74 for $14 days, or $68.99 for 30 days.

That's notably bit more than the plans offered through T-Mobile, which also include calling.

Bottom Line

The T-Mobile prepaid eSIM plan is a good deal — plain and simple. $50 for a whole month of unlimited data, talk, and text, plus 50 GB of high-speed hotspot data, is absolutely phenomenal. If you plan to work remotely while you're in the U.S., this could be the best option out there. However, if you don't need hotspot data and would rather have international calling, Visible by Verizon might be the better alternative.

Either way, it's great to see U.S. carriers adapting to international tourism ahead of one of the world's biggest sporting events.
