If you're in college and want to see the world, Singapore Airlines can help you do so for less. By joining the carrier's KrisFlyer for Students program, you're entitled to unique perks and benefits that can make international travel a little bit more affordable.
Here's all you need to know about Singapore Airlines' free-to-join student benefits program — including the perks for doing so.
What Is Singapore Airlines' KrisFlyer for Students Program?
Singapore Airlines' KrisFlyer for Students program is designed to help students see the world or get home from studying abroad for less. Registration is open to college students in select countries (PDF link) who can verify their enrollment through SheerID.

The program is free to join, and you can enjoy the flight benefits as long as you're enrolled in an educational institution. While a member of Student Privileges, you also continue to earn Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles on your bookings, which makes paid travel even more rewarding.
To register, visit Singapore Airlines' program website, sign up with KrisFlyer, and then verify your student status with SheerID.

Once you've created your new loyalty program account, make sure to link it to your AwardWallet account. Don't have an AwardWallet account yet? Sign up for free and track unlimited rewards programs and travel plans.
Benefits of Joining Student Privileges
After your student status has been verified, you can enjoy the following perks on Singapore Airlines:
Save 10% on airfare
Enrolled students can take a 10% discount on economy (all types) and select premium economy (lite and standard only) tickets booked with cash. You'll see the discount apply when you pick an eligible Singapore Airlines itinerary.
It's worth noting that Singapore Airlines is rarely the cheapest option, but the savings can make a deal that already works for you even sweeter.
Complimentary checked luggage
Depending on the cabin you're flying, you'll enjoy variable amounts of complimentary checked luggage:
- Economy and premium economy
- To/from the U.S. and Canada: Three pieces of luggage at 23kg (50 pounds) each
- All other destinations: 88 pounds of luggage
- Business class
- To/from the U.S. and Canada: Three pieces of luggage at 32kg (70 pounds) each
- All other destinations: 110 pounds of luggage
Change fee waiver
As a member of Student Privileges, your first booking change is free. Even if you're flying in economy class or on a Lite fare, it's completely free. If there are fare differences, though, note that you'll be on the hook for those.

It might not seem like much, but Singapore Airlines' KrisFlyer for Students program is a fantastic way for students to save a little bit of money and enjoy a few perks to make their next international journey more comfortable and affordable.

My daughter book a flight to seoul without realising that she’s entitled to the student deal. After a week or so, she sign up for the student privileges and ask SQ to give her the 40kg baggage but was refused the request despite not having the 10% off flight ticket.
Can singapore airline help?
Thank you
Please contact Singapore Airlines representatives to figure it out.

Offers like this should apply for every kind of traveler
I understand your disappointment around being left out, but I also appreciate student targeted offers. They’re a group that has limited travel resources. I benefited as a student back in the day and friends and family have as well.
I believe that the program primarily targets students from Singapore studying abroad.
great offer for students take a year off.
Nice; especially since it’s useful for other Star Alliance partners. I’m surprised this isn’t more widespread in the industry.
