If you're sitting on a stack of AAdvantage miles, American Airlines has a new award sale that's a great opportunity to put them to use. The airline just discounted millions of award seats, and for a limited time, you can book Main Cabin flights within the contiguous U.S. and between the U.S. and destinations in Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and Europe for fewer miles.
This sale won't be around for long, though, so you'll need to book soon. Here's what to know.
American Airlines Award Sale Details
Like any award sale, you'll need to act fast to take advantage of this American Airlines offering. Through July 7, 2026, American is discounting awards within the U.S. and from the U.S. to Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and Europe for travel between August 1 and September 30, 2026.
Per the promotion's webpage, you'll find seats from 9,000 AAdvantage miles during this sale. However, we're seeing some awards price even lower than that — and even outside the advertised travel window. To give you an idea of what we're seeing, here are some one-way examples:
- New York LaGuardia (LGA) to Boston (BOS) from 7,000 miles + $5.60
- New York Kennedy (JFK) to Los Angeles (LAX) from 8,000 miles + $5.60
- Myrtle Beach (MYR) to Knoxville (TYS) from 8,000 miles + $5.60
- Raleigh-Durham (RDU) to Bermuda (BDA) from 9,000 miles + $5.60
- Phoenix (PHX) to San José, Costa Rica (SJO) from 9,000 miles + $24.68
- Oklahoma City (OKC) to Cancun (CUN) from 9,000 miles + $62.34

Key details
There are a few terms you'll want to note:
- Offer is valid for reservations made between June 22, 2026, and 11:59 p.m. CT on July 7, 2026.
- Valid for travel between August 1 and September 30, 2026.
- The offer cannot be applied retroactively to existing reservations.
- Valid only on flights operated by American Airlines and American Eagle, and excludes codeshare flights.
- Cannot be combined with any other offer or promotion.

Need More AAdvantage Miles?

Final Thoughts
American Airlines uses dynamic pricing, so it's sometimes hard to tell just how good an AAdvantage award sale really is. This promotion is no different, especially since we're seeing prices below the advertised minimum both within and outside the stated travel window of August 1 through September 30, 2026.
But still, it's worth taking a look, whether you've got miles burning a hole in your pocket or already have travel booked. Remember, you can cancel and rebook an AAdvantage award ticket if you find a lower price.
