If you've poked around the Alaska Airlines website and tried to book a Singapore Airlines award recently, you might have noticed a surprising lack of flights. And by that, we mean that flights aren't available — like, at all.

Is something changing with the Alaska–Singapore partnership? Or is this a casualty of Alaska's new Mileage Plan award chart rollout? Here's what travelers need to know.

Technical Problem: Alaska Mileage Plan Not Showing Singapore Awards

Can you currently book a Singapore Airlines award through Mileage Plan from the U.S. to Singapore? Nope. Europe to Singapore? Nope. Okay, how about an intra-Asia award? Also nope.

We'll admit that dozens of empty award searches made us hit the panic button. It seemed like just yesterday you couldn't throw a rock without hitting a bookable Singapore seat — in multiple classes of travel. Today? No dice.

For points and miles enthusiasts, it's worrisome to see the sudden and complete disappearance of bookable award flights without notice — especially given the caliber of a partner Singapore Airlines is to Alaska Airlines. Plus, given how frequently we harp on the value of Alaska miles, the removal of a partnership would be nothing short of sadness-inducing and value-depleting.

Suffice it to say, it would have been incredibly disappointing had we not reached out to Alaska Airlines to ask what (if anything) changed and not received the following message from a spokesperson:

“We’ve made no changes to our partnership with Singapore. However, you’re not wrong in noticing something’s amiss. We’re working on a technical problem that’s hampering the loading of Singapore flights on our site. Our teams are troubleshooting the issue right now. We hope to have an ETA on a fix soon.”

While it's not “business as usual” at the moment, Alaska is working on the technical issues preventing Singapore awards from showing up on its site. As to how long we'll have to wait for awards to come online, we (and Alaska) don't have an answer.

Thankfully, there's nothing fundamentally wrong with the Alaska–Singapore relationship. You'll just have to wait an unknown amount of time to book an award seat on the carrier. Phew.

Final Thoughts

There's something up with the Alaska Airlines website. And because of it, Singapore Airlines awards aren't populating. But rest assured, there's nothing wrong — just a few technical problems.
