There are plenty of different ways to earn rewards on the money that you're spending. Whether you're paying rent, buying groceries, or doing some online shopping, credit cards and other loyalty programs make sure you're always maximizing your money. Bilt Rewards is one of these; opening an account is free and you can earn points on nearly everything you do.
Let's take a look at Bilt Rewards, how it works, and why you should sign up for an account.

What Is Bilt Rewards?
Bilt Rewards is a payments and rewards program that allows you to earn points on some of the purchases you make the most. It's most well-known for earning rewards on rent that you pay, though you can also get points for other home-related costs such as utilities, HOA fees, and more.
To earn points for these purchases, you have a few different options. Bilt accepts multiple different credit cards for payments, but it charges a 3% transaction fee for most cards that you use. There are a few exceptions to this:
- Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card: Earns 3X Alaska miles on rent payments made through Bilt, but still charges the 3% fee.
- The Bilt Mastercard®: Earns 1X Bilt Points for payments and waives the 3% fee. (Rates & Fees)

Other credit cards will simply earn you the standard number of rewards you'd get with other purchases. For example, the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card earns 2X Capital One Miles per $1 spent on all purchases, which would apply to these payments. According to recent AwardWallet user redemptions, Capital One Miles are worth an average of 2.03¢ each.
You'll also earn 1x Bilt point per $1 spent when paying with this card — and Bilt Rewards average at 2.02¢ in value on redemptions.
Overall, this means you'll be paying a 3% fee on your rent, but earning approximately 5% in rewards.
Other ways to earn Bilt Rewards include:
- Lyft rides (need to link your accounts)
- Walgreens spending
- Dining
- Travel
- Buying a home

For Walgreens spending, travel, and dining, you'll simply need to link any of your credit cards to your Bilt account; purchases will then be automatically tracked and rewards deposited to your Bilt account.

The Benefits of Bilt Rewards
It's pretty easy to see that Bilt is a great program. After all, it's free to make an account, and you don't need to open a credit card to start earning points. It's also one of the only programs out there that'll let you earn points for your rent payments as well as a variety of other ways.
But what truly sets Bilt apart is its lucrative promotions. Not only can you redeem your Bilt Rewards in a variety of ways, but Bilt's monthly Rent Day promotion also gives you huge perks on the first of each month.
Bilt Rent Day
Taking place on the first day of each month, Bilt Rent Day provides benefits to each of its members. Its offerings vary from month to month and can differ based on your level of Bilt elite status. Here are some of the perks you may find during Rent Day:
- Transfer bonuses on points
- Free workout classes
- Doubled rewards on purchases
- Free sandwiches
- Win points via game show questions
This list may not look like a huge deal, but it's deceiving. Historically, Bilt has offered huge transfer bonuses to those with top-tier elite status — often allowing you to more than double the value of your points!
Redeeming Bilt Rewards
As we mentioned earlier, Bilt allows you to redeem your points in multiple ways. The value you'll get for your points will vary, but options for redemption include:
- Transferring to travel partners
- Booking travel within the Bilt travel portal
- Down payment on a house
- Shopping with Amazon
- Paying rent
- Paying student loans
- Gift cards
- Other online shopping
Maximizing Bilt Rewards
So you're interested in earning Bilt Rewards and have already signed up for an account. What's the best way to maximize the points that you earn?
Earn Bilt Elite Status
Bilt offers elite status to those who use the program regularly. In addition to the base level, there are three levels of Bilt elite status:
- Blue: All members
- Silver: 50,000 points or $10,000 in spend
- Gold: 125,000 points or $25,000 in spend
- Platinum: 200,000 points or $50,000 in spend
Those who have a Bilt Mastercard are eligible for fast-tracked Bilt elite status via spending, while those without a card must meet the standard points-earned threshold.
There are a few different benefits to elite status, including the ability to earn interest on your points, a Flying Blue status match, a complimentary BLADE flight, and better transfer bonuses.

This last perk is the best. For example, in June 2025 Bilt's Rent Day offered a transfer bonus to All Accor Limitless (ALL) — but the transfer rate varied.
Those without elite status received a 50% bonus, while those who had Platinum status enjoyed a 200% transfer bonus!
Open a Bilt Mastercard
Opening a Bilt Mastercard is a no-brainer if you're a renter. With the ability to pay your rent without fees, plus earn points, it makes sense for all renters to have a Bilt Mastercard.
But even those who don't rent may want to consider opening the Bilt Mastercard. This is because you'll earn double rewards on Rent Day each month.
The Bilt Mastercard has a $0 annual fee (Rates & Fees) and normally earns the following rewards:
- 3x points on dining
- 2x points on travel
- 1x points on rent payments without the transaction fee (up to 100,000 points each calendar year)
- 1x points on other purchases
- *You must use the card 5 times each statement period to earn points—see Rewards & Benefits.
On Rent Day, however, those earnings are doubled (on up to $1,000 in spending) on everything but rent. That makes the Bilt Mastercard the absolute best card for dining on the first of each month, coming in at 6x points per $1 spent.
Transfer Points to Partners
Bilt has plenty of ways to redeem rewards, but to really maximize your points you'll want to transfer to one of Bilt's hotel and airline partners. They're among the best offered by any flexible point currency and include options you won't find anywhere else.
Is Bilt Rewards Worth It?
Bilt Rewards is free to join, free to use, and gives you free benefits every month. No matter who you are, joining Bilt is worth it. However, for those who spend a lot on rent, having a Bilt account is going to be a game-changer. Pair this with the Bilt Mastercard, and it makes it easy to rack up those points.
The Bottom Line
Bilt Rewards is a transferable point currency competing with the likes of American Express and Chase. Despite being newer than these giants, Bilt comes out strong with the ability to earn rewards on rent. A no-fee credit card and monthly Rent Day promotions further strengthen Bilt's offerings, making it a good choice for just about anybody.
