It's that time of year again. Wyndham has announced that there will be some changes to its award categories starting April 15, 2026. Select properties will move up a tier, others will move down a tier, but most will remain the same. Here's what we know so far about the Wyndham Rewards category changes.

Wyndham Rewards Plans Category Changes for 2026

Hotels are constantly reevaluating their portfolios. As part of this process, some properties will soon require more points per night to book, while others will go down in price. As a reminder, Wyndham uses a simplified three-tier system for award nights. You will spend either 7,500, 15,000, or 30,000 Wyndham Rewards points per bedroom, depending on the property you stay at.

Starting April 15, 2026, some properties will be recategorized. Here's what we know so far:

  • 88% of hotels will remain in their current tier.
  • 8% of hotels will move to a lower tier.
  • 4% of hotels will move to a higher tier.

The changes this year are minimal, which makes it easy to plan for. AwardWallet reached out to Wyndham for a list of example properties that would change tiers, but none could be provided. However, only 4% of properties will become more expensive, so odds are your desired property will either stay the same or become more affordable.

However, if you want to lock in current rates, you can book before April 15. If you book a stay at a current tier and the hotel moves to a lower tier, you will be automatically refunded. However, if it moves to a higher tier, the original booking will be honored.

Bottom Line

Although we don't have much more information, it's great to see that only a handful of properties will move to a higher tier. If you want to guarantee current rates, be sure to book your hotel before April 15.
