Spending requirements to earn bonus points

There’s the possibility to earn up to a maximum amount of 150,000 World of Hyatt Bonus Points through this offer, but it will depend on your spending. Points may be earned on eligible catering and banqueting charges, excluding taxes, gratuities, service charges, room revenue, and outside vendor or supplier charges.

  • Spend $5,000: Earn 30,000 bonus points
  • Spend $10,000: Earn 60,000 bonus points
  • Spend $20,000: Earn 90,000 bonus points
  • Spend $30,000: Earn 120,000 bonus points
  • Spend $40,000: Earn 150,000 bonus points

If you have your wedding abroad, your total spending will be converted to USD to determine your bonus points.

You will also earn two Tier Qualifying Night credits for every $5,000 spent.

How To Maximize the Offer

Weddings are expensive, so you'll likely spend at least $40,000. Assuming you do, you'll earn the full 150,000 bonus points and 16 elite night credits.

The elite night credits you earn would get you to Hyatt Discoverist status and halfway to Hyatt Explorist. That means you'll receive perks like 10% bonus points, premium internet, bottled water, a room upgrade, elite check-in, and a 2:00 p.m. late checkout.

If you were able to put most of that spending on The World of Hyatt Credit Card, you'd earn another two elite night credits per $5,000 spent, on top of five elite night credits for being a cardholder. The card already includes Hyatt Discoverist status, but with the 21 extra elite night credits (16 from spending $40,000 and five from being a cardholder), you'd firmly be a Hyatt Explorist member, which comes with perks like better room upgrades and guaranteed room availability within 72 hours.

Plus, the card comes with a Category 1-4 free night award every year, and you can earn an additional free night award after spending $15,000 — which you will.

And if you're a new cardholder, you'd also earn a welcome bonus throughout this period.

You can then redeem these points for free nights at any Hyatt hotel worldwide with no blackout dates.

AwardWallet users redeem World of Hyatt points for an average of 2.19¢ apiece, making just the 150,000 bonus points worth roughly $3,285.

Bottom Line

We all know weddings are expensive, but if you were already planning on hosting your celebrations at a Hyatt hotel, you may as well earn some rewards out of it. Depending on the amount spent, you could secure free nights on your honeymoon or toward future vacations, but you are still looking at spending at least $40,000 to reach the max amount, and that’s without considering the exclusions.

The terms and conditions state that participation is at the hotel's discretion and subject to availability throughout the promotional period, so make sure you have it in writing before you start planning the wedding vows. However, roughly 200,000 Hyatt points and two free night awards could offset the cost of your honeymoon. Even with Hyatt's newest award charts, that could easily get you 10 days at a Category 4 property anywhere in the world.
