Other Ways to Earn More Hyatt Points

The most straightforward way to earn Hyatt points is through stays at Hyatt hotels. Here's how you earn points on Hyatt stays. Boost your earnings further by utilizing Hyatt promotions — such as the recurring Hyatt Bonus Journeys promotion.

You can boost your World of Hyatt balance further by selecting bonus point options through Hyatt Milestone Rewards. If that's not enough, you can buy Hyatt points, although we only recommend doing so during a promotion.

But the best way to get a bunch of Hyatt points quickly is by transferring points in from a flexible points program or earning the welcome bonus on a World of Hyatt credit card:

Our Take

Based on recent AwardWallet user redemptions, World of Hyatt points are worth 2.19¢ each. At this rate, the 500-point Hyatt new hotel bonus is only worth around $11 per night, so it's not worth going out of your way to visit these hotels. But if you can stay at one of these hotels in the next couple of months, then it's a great way to boost the points you already earn on Hyatt stays.

When you book, don't forget to use The World of Hyatt Credit Card (Rates & Fees) or World of Hyatt Business Credit Card (Rates & Fees) to receive 4X points on qualifying purchases. These cards also offer automatic Hyatt Discoverist elite status, plus cardholder promotions like award rebates.

I am missing a Hyatt staying; thanks for sharing it.

  • Rodrigo says:

Big fans of Hyatt as well! Nice article!

  • J says:

No award pricing included in the chart? Would be nice to know at least what categories these are

    • JT Genter says:

Ah, good idea. That’s going to take a bit of research, but we will see if we can add that to the chart.

  • Joe says:

Big fan of Hyatt stays. Thanks for sharing.

  • sami says:

great deal im goning to keeo it in mind for my trip on february

  • Eli says:

Hyatt still has the best hotels rewards program notwithstanding the recent devaluation. Anything to earn extra hyatt is good in my book.

  • Froide says:

Alas, none are in places where I’d use them this year.

  • RD says:

Wow. Is this in addition to AAdvantage giving 1000 miles for each Hyatt stay?

  • m says:

Sorry, but dynamic pricing on Hyatt points redemptions have reduced the value of the points even further.

  • Will says:

It is great that ZRH now has two hotels directly connected to the terminal.

  • Gustavo Iasinski says:

Good program. I just would like to see more options for staying located in South America

  • Jo says:

Personally, would not go out of my way for 500 points. At 1,000 points, maybe…

  • Fabio says:

May I ask how you come up with 2.25 cents each? I know it’s an average but what properties are you looking at to get huge value? And we’re not talking inflated prices like the cash price of a hotel in New York on New Year’s Eve right?

    • Ryan Smith says:

Fabio – see here. https://awardwallet.com/point-mile-values/hyatt This comes from data pulled on reservations tracked in award programs where people store their info with AwardWallet and/or submit their reservations to the AwardWallet “trips” section to keep an agenda of their travel. It’s an average of any bookings our users have made.

  • Harvey Kwan says:

500 points adds up if you have multiple stays planned.

  • Charles says:

Free breakfast as an incentive option would be nice.

  • Richard says:

This looks fab, I hope I can take advantage of it – thanks for the tip

  • Jennifer says:

I guess they are just trying to get people to try the new hotels in their network. 500 points is not a lot that would make me change my hotel preference though.

  • Paul says:

Not the biggest incentive to stay but every little helps

  • Andrew Merson says:

As you surmised it’s not worth 500 points to go out of your way to book but nice if you were staying anyways!

  • Kevin says:

    Good deal. Thanks.

  • ricardo says:

500 of something for nothing if you were going to stay anyway. Pretty good deal

  • Mikey says:

Not a huge incentive, but hey, if you’re gonna be staying there anyway, might as well get the extra 500 points…..Hyatt is still the best major hotel points program around despite their smaller selection of hotels worldwide.

  • Darren says:

New properties is a good thing. Keep them coming and expand your footprint!

  • Andrew Jolley says:

Looks like a good deal. Seems like most of the Hyatts i’ve stayed at recently have been great experiences.

  • ricardo says:

Never a bad thing to get some free points

  • AJ says:

Gee, 500 whole points. If it was a little higher, might be somewhat enticing

  • Fenspinbi says:

Talk about timing…I stayed at Hyatt hotels in one of the cities on the list, and at Hiltons on two others just last month. (Charlotte, Phoenix, & Houston) Redeemed some other amazing promotions such that I don’t feel FOMO, but this would’ve been sprinkles on the icing had I known about it.

  • Jon B says:

Nice extra bonus but I wouldn’t go out of my way to stay there for the bonus.

  • Pablo says:

Great tip! I’m planning a trip to NYC and this is a very useful data.

  • Facundo says:

I am planning a trip to NYC in December so I might be trying the Hyatt Place New York / Chelsea. Thanks for the tip! 🙂

  • tim says:

Hotel Figueroa is a cool place. I’ve stayed there a few times. Nice boutique hotel in DTLA.

  • Valdeneia Juraci Pinto says:

Thanks for the tips. I’ll travel travel to Nashville next month.

  • Rhonda says:

I hear Hyatt is very good to their members especially the elite. While there are limitations on this promo, I’ll still check them out.

    • Theresa says:

Hyatt has one of the best rewards programs IMO, the points are worth more than other hotel brand points, and they do treat members well. The customer service I’ve received has been excellent. They always try to accommodate my requests and answer emails really quickly, often within a few hours. They don’t have as many properties as other brands, but are adding new ones all the time, they run a lot of bonus promos, and if you have an American Airlines Aadvantage account and link it to your WOH account, they give you Hyatt points for every AA flight. I’d highly recommend the World of Hyatt card if you become a member. The annual anniversary free night reward alone is worth more than the $95 annual fee, plus you get Discoverist elite status and your Hyatt points won’t expire.

  • coyboy says:

Still a pain in the backside to do any real travel,,,, Is 500 points worth the aggravation

  • Harvey Kwan says:

Hyatt is my go-to for booking award nights since they have a set chart.

  • David says:

Look forward to Samui again some day

  • Ray says:

I have stayed at Hyatt place LAX. prolly not the best experience but still acceptable.

  • Maryjane says:

I certainly would have stayed at some of these hotels if my travel plans had taken me to those locations. There are a few in the midwest, but none where I have been working. I’ll always choose a Hyatt if I can and I’m glad to see their footprint growing.

  • Darren says:

May I ask how you come up with 2.25 cents each? I know it’s an average but what properties are you looking at to get huge value? And we’re not talking inflated prices like the cash price of a hotel in New York on New Year’s Eve right?

    • Erik Paquet says:

Hi Darren, the average is based off of 18,630 bookings as of today. The numbers DO include inflated prices like New York on NYE. But with over 18K award data points, pricy dates shouldn’t be a big factor in the overall average. You can see a breakdown by Hyatt brand here: https://awardwallet.com/point-mile-values/Hyatt

Mile value averages are weighted by the number of points redeemed. For example, an award that gets a value of X cents per point on 100,000 points redeemed has twice the impact (on the average) as redeeming 50,000 points.

  • Steve says:

I see this offer from Hyatt pretty often, never have been able to cash in on it though.

  • Rosario says:

    A quite poor promotion.
Especially because the goal is to promote the new hotels that normally don’t have any customers.

  • Everest says:

Some of those eligible dates seem speculative. For example, Hyatt Place Vadodara shows eligibile dates as Jul 1 – Sep 30, yet the hotel is not open for business until mid-Nov.

    • JT Genter says:

So that’s how they get you :/ Good catch on that. Seems Hyatt needs to update its promotion dates.

  • dphamm says:

I really enjoy staying at Hyatt Centric. It can be a bit barebones, but it’s always in the center of the cities’ action, and i love that!

  • Jennifer says:

I guess it is better than nothing. If you have stays in any of the hotels in the areas that they have bonuses on, this will not change any stays though.

  • Ross says:

New hotels can be a bit of a gamble so I like the idea of a small incentive like this.

    • Darren says:

I’ve definitely read a couple of horror stories about things like the AC not working at a new hotel.

    • Elena says:

I just stayed in a new hotel recently without knowing it was new (I just booked a hotel in Amarillo based on price/location – no clue it was new). I show up and the pool is still under construction. Quite frustrating to say the least.

  • Charles says:

It is welcome news that even award stays are qualified for the bonus.

  • Harvey says:

I really like Hyatt’s program as I feel i am getting the most out of my points. With marriott, there is so many blackout dates on certificates and award bookings

  • Darren says:

2.25 cents each? I guess it’s splitting hairs but I baseline them at 2 cents each. Anything more is outstanding and I don’t book anything less.

  • EC says:

Congrats to Hyatt on being able to expand at a time when other hotels have been contracting by selling properties.

  • Christian Davis says:

Too bad this is such a short window to stay. Hopefully there are some good bonus opportunities in the second half of the year as things open up again.

  • Maria Perez says:

Hyatt Hotels are great, I liked this prootion a lot!

  • Dana Reed says:

I am really a fan of Hyatt hotels, and with extra benefits like this, it makes it easier to justify searching them out. I only with there were more Hyatt house locations across the US.

  • GarySTL says:

There are some wonderful properties on the list, but it is still a bit early for us.

  • Maryjane says:

I didn’t think that I would have the opportunity to stay at any of these hotels, but there’s at least one that is in an area where I work. I’ll have to keep that in mind. I usually stay at the Hyatt place but I can stay at a Hyatt House if it means some extra points.

  • Bhikhu Shah says:

Great offer, but I don’t think we’ll be staying in a hotel just yet.

  • Jean Ellen MacMillan says:

AwardWallet is a great service and a convenient way to earn AA miles. Thanks

  • Val says:

Thanks for the list of participating hotels. I might be able to take advantage of this offer!
