If you didn't know, you can redeem your Virgin Points for more than just award flights. You can also redeem points through Virgin Voyages. Years ago, Virgin Voyages offered a few select cruises for under 100k points. Now, Virgin is offering a significantly wider range of cruise options, although cruises pricing under 100k points are no longer available.

As of January 2026, Virgin Voyages cruises start at 185,000 points for an all-inclusive sailing. You can also spend considerably more points, such as a once-in-a-lifetime UK and Iceland cruise during the 2026 eclipse.

Don't have Virgin Points already? Don't worry. They are some of the easiest points to accumulate in the world of points and miles. Here's how to use your Virgin Points to book a cruise, and whether it's a good idea.

Book Virgin Voyages Using Virgin Points

Virgin Voyages now offers dozens of sailings bookable with Virgin Points, with prices ranging from just 185,000 Points up to a whopping 1.64 million Virgin Points per cabin. Departures run through November 2027, though availability is limited.

Pricing is per cabin and covers up to two guests. Unlike some cruise lines, solo sailors don’t get a reduced rate except with the occasional promotion. Every Virgin Voyages sailing is adults-only and all-inclusive. This means your booking covers food, soft drinks, tips, group fitness classes, entertainment, Wi-Fi, and more. Even the $150–$200 in port taxes and fees are included.

There’s no set deadline to book, but availability is first-come, first-served.

To redeem points for a cruise, sign in to Virgin Red and select your preferred voyage. After making a purchase, you will receive an access code within three days that you can use to book your cruise directly with Virgin Voyages.

On average, AwardWallet users have redeemed Virgin Points for a whopping 3.62¢ each for flights. Thus, redeeming 200,000 points for a cruise means you're spending points that could be redeemed for more than $6,000 worth of flights.

Also, take into consideration that you can book the same cruises with Delta Cruises or other cruise booking portals (including Virgin Voyages) for as low as $595.

Virgin Voyages also has once-in-a-lifetime cruises you can book with points, but you're likely better off booking with cash than burning seven-digits worth of Virgin points:

  • 12-night cruise, Total Eclipse of the Mediterranean for 1,320,000 points
  • 17-night cruise, Picturesque Panama Canal Collective for 1,300,000 points
  • 12-night cruise, Inside Passage, Alaska & Canadian Coasts for 1,185,000 points

It's worth reiterating that availability changes constantly. If one of these offerings piques your interest, act fast before it sells out.

In the past, these same cruises were available for under 100,000 points. It's unclear whether we'll ever see those lower rates again. At least the cruises have dropped from the 280,000 points minimum we saw over the summer.

Our Take

For the past few years, Virgin Voyages has offered cruises for Virgin Red members to book with points. Sadly, the days of an 80k-point cruise appear to be gone. The cost in points for cruises fluctuates regularly. Just this year, the same cruise has ranged from a mere 149k points to 280k points.

You can even find cruises for well over a million points. In such cases, you may want to put your Virgin Points to better use and book cruises with cash instead. That's also an option for the cheaper cruises, depending on how you value your points..

Virgin Points are incredibly easy to earn. If the dates for available cruises are ones you can make work (and there's still availability), you have the option of booking with Virgin Points. Here's the complete list of departures.

    Thomas Atkins says:

    ***2025 update:

Virgin Voyages’ tipping policy tweaked slightly, commencing 7th October 2025:

“Prepay for the best value: You can choose not to prepay, but service gratuities cost more once you’re on board. Prepaying keeps them at the lower rate and included in your total.”

Essentially, tips etc. are included in your basket when purchasing your cruise; opt-out at this stage and your onboard invoice will be higher!

Is this a current deal/article? All of the comments are from March of this year indicating the deal has sold out. Wondering if it was reprised.

This is an evergreen post that we update with the latest offerings. We just updated this post on May 26, 2023.

what is the cancelation policy– how many days before your cruise can you get your points refunded if you decide that you no longer want to go on the cruise?

Seems that Virgin Voyages’ cancellation policy would take effect. They allow free cancellations within 7 days of booking or more than 120 days of sailing. So, it seems this would be effectively noncancellable.

Does “within 7 days of booking” take precedence? Like, can I book and decide within 7 days if I want to go and then cancel if not?

Yes, but I’m unsure how this would work with points bookings. Presumably you’d get your Virgin points back. But that’s not confirmed on the website.

We are booked on the May 14th French Daze and Ibiza Nights cruise. We have paid in full. Can we change to using Virgin Red Points?

Good question. I’m assuming that you won’t be able to change your existing booking to points. But if your booking is fully refundable, you could cancel and refund it and rebook with points. Just note that can be risky.
